Registered 5 years agoIt's possible, there was vitrually no one in the stadium for the Malawi-Algeria game.
Edit - I think even if there hadn't been a shooting the stadiums wouldn't be that full. -

Registered 7 years agoI doubt it. Malawi - Algeria was in Luanda, the capital of Angola and probably the safer stadium in the ACN. -

Registered 9 years agoStupid Nigeria.
I swear, we should just play our Jnr Eagles squad. Won the olympics, the jnr world cup some 3 times, were finalist of the jnr world cup last year (loosing to switzerland) and finalist of the last olympics.
Why they keep playing these over-the-will 24/42 year olds is beyond me. And I hate chelsea for ruining obi mikel. -

Registered 9 years agoNigeria usually don't have any discipline. Very good attacking wise but tactically and defensively naive. They don't know how to defend as a team, close a game out, or kill teams off without showboating, fancy flicks and tricks. They usually play as individuals instead of as a team and they need a manager who will teach them how to perform in a disciplined and professional manner. This applies to the senior team mainly and to a lesser extent the youth teams. -

It's a big job to be fair and a quality manager would ensure that Nigeria would be major contenders on the world stage, they always have so much talent and young players coming through. But the financial infrastructure, management, politics and corruption of the NFA make it difficult as well.freedumb wrote:

Isn’t this traditionally the consensus on why an African team can’t compete on the world stage full stop? Teams like Cameroon, Ivory Coast and Ghana have got the kind of world class players which win tournaments, but the theory is that it’s tactics where they’ll fall down against the likes of Italy and Germany.freedumb wrote:

Have to say, I think there’s more than a hint of racism in that traditional view, although probably a bit of truth in it also. Still, Brazil hardly go into tournaments with tactical master plans, yet they seem to do pretty well.

Registered 9 years agoI think good coaching would iron this problem out, at least for Nigeria. The talent is there for them (and some other top African nations) to progress and become world heavyweights, as long as the standard of coaching is high. There's also something about Brazil from a pure footballing sense that just transcends tactics and at times blows everyone else away. -
