Coming to PS2 sometime next year, according to this Bloomberg story.

PS2 is the console that refused to die!

When it sells more than PS3 anyway, you'd be silly not to.

    Why not.

Disgaea 3 is basically a PS2 game so why not just release on PS2 and cash in on the huge market?

S'not like you can't play it on the PS3 anyway.

Great news! If a bit surprising.

Still haven't played the third one though...

I know translation tools are a bit ropey but come on, they aren't that bad!

    Translated (roughly)

Don't you have a PS2 yet? If you have, then play the game, man! If not, then buy one and play the game, man!

Or, alternatively, wait for the rumoured FES release.

I guess I'll buy that new version of the PS2 Slim next year. Then, after I've played Soul Nomad, Odin Sphere and RAW DANGER!!!!, I'll have a look at Persona 3. Hopefully they'll have released Fes over here by then.

Apparently there's a big reveal in this week's Famitsu. And yes, it's a PS2 game. That bit wasn't wrong.

    Scans.

Here's some info I nicked from GAF:

    Persona 4 (PS2)

    - Trailer on DVD
    - July 10th release
    - 85% Complete
    - Looks like Persona 3 but better
    - 180+ Personas
    - Hashino is directing, Soejima is art director and character designer, Meguro is composing

    - Takes place in the countryside, a more nostalgic environment
    - The theme is murder mystery/suspense, it's a mystery thriller with twists and turns
    - Multiple endings
    - 1.5x the size of P3
    - 60-70 hours
    - There is a weather forecast system, and whenever there is a fog, a murder occurs

Does not compute. 1.5 x PS 3 would work out at around 100 hours plus.

    While I'm at it: -
"Katsura Hashino, the producer, explains the gameplay is around 60-70 hours, which means plenty of time building social links on the soccer field and melding Personas in the Velvet Room."

So Persona 4 is Persona 3 with Football??? Link

    More details Link

"The game's protagonist is a second year high school student living in a provincial city. His parents are working abroad, hence he is living with relatives of his mother. Two of the protagonist's classmates are Yousuke Hanamura and Chie Satonaka. The former is quite a show-off, but still has very few friends whom he can talk to frankly. The latter is a lively and sociable young lady who loves to chat." - RPGFan

The PS2 just isn't going down. Combined with my current back-log of games it makes me wonder whether or not I should bother with this gen until its over.

Can't wait to see how this turns out. Although I'd rate P3 as one of the best RPGs I've ever played, I hope P4 doesn't turn out too similar; Originality was one of it's strong points...

    I have a Rule:

The Iron Rule Of New Consoles:
A "new" console shall be purchased once it possesses enough exclusive games that I desire to equal the purchase price of said console.

Hence I have a wii, and will be picking up a PS3... sometime in 2011. Probably.

I envision demon summoning + Pro Evo style arcadey football. Not because it's likely, just cos it would make me giggle.

This series seems interesting and one I have been considering playing, but as I hav never touched any of the games can someone post or link the chronology of the series ? I tried wikipedia but no good.
Also to those that have played the series, is continuity an issue ?

Can't help much here but I haven't played any of the SMT games before Persona 3 and I haven't had any problems playing it. I suspect Persona 4 will be the same.

As far as I know, SMT: Digital Devil Saga 2 continues pretty much straight from SMT: Digital Devil Saga 1.

Otherwise, the SMT games are independent of each other.

Also, Persona 3 is digital crack. I can see myself sinking closer to 200 hours into it (I'm really taking my time and trying not to rush through). I'm currently at the beginning of June and have already clocked 30 hours or so...
