Defending in the last 2 FIFAs (12 and 13), is pretty horrible though. The majority of the time it's entirely the AI's decision as to whether or not it sticks its leg in or not for a normalized tackle. That or you press 'manual tackle', which has less area coverage and a horrible penalty if you happen to miss or their player is a top player like Ronaldo or Messi.
