Ron Paul has done two things:
1. He has publicly stated he won't run as a third party candidate.
2. He has actually signed an agreement prior to entering the race that stipulates he cannot run as a third party if he doesn't get the Republican nomination.
But by 'eventually' I assume you mean in four eight twelve sixteen years, in which case I agree it's possible, assuming he isn't dead by then.
At least he seems like a genuine candidate, unlike almost every other politician.
