Yeah the default weapons are generally considered the best, apart from ones which are considered straight upgrades such as the equalizer. In competitive 6v6 play as seen there, they often ban a decent amount of weapons though, usually ones that slow down the game/take control from people etc like the sandman, even though it's considered not particularly good by most.
