Several years ago, in early Halo 3 days, me and a few friends were stuck in searching-for-game mode. Friend finally decided that maybe if he changes his spartan's color to pink, the problem will resolve itself and we'd be able to find a game. It worked immediately and since then he has never been anything other than pink.
Regarding Noble Pack DLC... buy it. The maps are truly excellent (breakpoint may be my favorite).
