Can I add a +1 to the Tamron. I've got one in Pentax mount and it's fantastic - sharper than a lot of other lenses at 2.8 and if you stop it down just a bit it's razor-like. I like the handling too, and it seems to handle fringing and CA very well.
For those of you not put off by manual focussing, I;ve found that it goes very nicely in a 3 lens kit with a 100mm macro and the Tamron Adaptall 60-300mm. Very little you can't shoot with those 3 and you'll have excellent image quality.
