Seed unveils PS3-exclusive RTS

User content key for Under Siege.

Portuguese developer Seed Studios has lifted the lid on PS3-exclusive RTS Under Siege.

Due out later this year, the game will place "special emphasis" on user-generated content, according to the official website, and be tailored for console gameplay and controls. Multiplayer and community features will be important, too.

There's not much else to go on, other than some pre-alpha screenshots, which show rural areas and what appear to be tribes and explorers. We can't see much evidence of technology, and the silhouettes on the site suggest swords are the staple weapon-type.

Under Siege doesn't appear to be have publisher yet. We'll let you know more when we do.

Good for PS3 to have one more exclusive game but Seed Studio I m not familar with? Seem not quite well known but good re RTS n hope will have an option for mouse/keyboard. Though said the game will be tailored for the DS3/SX

I really think they should watch that this user generated content doesn't get out of control. It's nice now, but it could be overkill if every game has a heavy dependence on them. A day only has 24 hours, when are all these people going to build shit. And consoles aren't the same as PC's, nor are they're users.

It's fresh now, but for how long?

Looks nice enough, PSN £9.99 and you have got yourself a buyer!

I'm going to user-generate a giant damage-proof unit with miniguns.

    Take that, sword-wielding losers!

Seed is a portuguese company. They did DS games so far. Not stellar ones as they were crushed by the critics.
However, these early screens do seem very nice. Not so sure about the user-generated content trend... seems a bit out of place.

^^ Well, for instance, I associate PSN-games and XBLA games as "bite size fun"; "pick'n'play experiences", "instructions-less activities"... .

No mention of whether it stars Steven Seagal as a former SEAL, now working as a cook?

hmm looks good but probs get slated in reveiws but i'll buy it anyways love a good old RTS and Endwar is the only 1 i own on console so far with red alert 3 soon and this it just bumps it up.

shame my laptop aint a gaming 1 and i miss out of stuff like dawn of war 2 and empire total war but hey RTS is starting a long awaited push and attack on the console market good to see.

i cant get my head round why so many people say " well the ps3 its more powerful than some computers " and yet a RTS is such a challenge and shot down in flames with endwar being the only decent step forward.

mind you when creative assembly said they " couldnt be assed " to dev for the ps3 i thought that was the biggest lazyest action of humanity ever and there the perfect studio to command the RTS fight on the console market.

this is why i love GG so much they actually stopped and took time to dev for the ps3 properly yes a good 4 years but look at the results of it eh ???

As long as there's enough to play without the user generated content, I don't see a problem TBH. Of course most players will not create anything but that's not the point of enabling UGC. It has lead to great stuff on PC and there too the majority of players ignore the creation tools and just play the content.

Also, Les, look at LBP! Very good example as well, one can already lose hours and hours on community levels, without ever touching the editor.

Yeah, really should check that one out again. After finishing the story mode I played a few online creations but that was a couple of months ago. I'm curious to see what people have come up with given the extra time. :)
