Sam & Max 4 details

Kill the president in March.

We've always wanted to kill Abe Lincoln, which is why we're grinning like drunken park-bench inhabitants this morning at news that Sam & Max Episode 4 will be released on 8th March.

In a similar deal to previous instalments, the game will go live on GameTap first (22nd March), then become available from the Telltale Store for US$ 8.95 - about four and a half potatoes in real money.

Sam & Max Episode 4: Abe Lincoln Must Die once again rejoins detective dog and rampant rabbit as they ship off to Washington to take care of a doolally president. It's down to you to sort the old bean out, whilst dealing with uprising powers intent on exploiting the man's weakness.

There will eventually be six titles in the series, with the first three already available. We've thoroughly enjoyed them here at Eurogamer, and you can read our most recent review elsewhere on the site.

Follow the trail of clues to the game's website for more information.

Damn it! I haven't even got round to finishing the last two... As much as I love Sam & Max being episodic, they just seem to be coming round too quickly.

Any sign from Telltale Games on the sales figures for this series and whether it's viable to do a second season?

The kind of constant exposure that comes with this kind of episodic format must be good for them at least.
I don't think they quoted any sales figures, but it's been high up in the charts of "most played game" on Gametap. Since they're fronting a large part of the cash for the whole thing, then things might look good for a second season.

This is how episodic should be done.. take a hint Valve you greedy bastards! However the biggest letdown in this approach is the relative ease of puzzles..can't please everyone.

Apparently Episode 4 will be the first that Telltale has been able to put out so far that actually takes on board some of the criticisms levelled at them so far. Review code is available to us now, so expect a write-up when the embargo lifts late next week.

I think you will probably find that the development costs of HL2 episodes is a little higher than those of S&M. I'm not saying Valve aren't making a bundle 9of course they are), but given how much they spent on developing HL2 and the Source engine, they are probably allowed to make some cash from it.

All of this is irrelevant to the consumer of course. You pays your money and you takes your choice.
