Rockstar prices GTAIV: Lost and Damned

Content is equivalent to a third of GTAIV.

Rockstar has confirmed that Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned will cost 1600 Microsoft Points (GBP 13.60 / EUR 19.20) when it's released on 17th February.

That's the price we all expected after a GameStop posting hinted at a USD 20 price point late last year.

The first of two announced episodes for the Xbox 360 version of Grand Theft Auto IV, The Lost and Damned puts you in the boots of Johnny Klebitz, a member of Liberty City biker gang The Lost.

Rockstar has finally shown off the game - and with the publisher claiming the content's roughly equal to a third of GTAIV's story missions, it seems fair to call it a game - this month and you can read our thoughts today at 6pm.

You can also check out the latest shots screenshots in our Grand Theft Auto IV Xbox 360 screenshot gallery.

Assuming it has a good 8-10 hours' standard gameplay, that's not a bad price. Although, like the rest of the GTA games (and like the Fable II DLC), I'm sure how much you get from it will depend on how much time and how in-depth you're prepared to go.

I'll wait to see how long this is gonna be, but at the moment it sounds like a non-purchase for me unfortunately

1600 points for a third of the game? Seeing as though 40 hours in I'm only 50% through that's good value.
  • Thunderbolt #6 3 years ago

    Hey Tom,

I was wondering if you can get the DLC without the game?

My friend 'borrowed' my copy of GTA 4 indefinetly, the bastard.
  • brappbrap #7 3 years ago

I'm on the fence about this.

This might be the push i need to finish off some of the things in the original that i never got round to doing.

Alternatively, I could just not buy this and finish doing those things anyway....

1/3 the length of the full game seems pretty good to me. Whilst 1600 points seems a bit expensive, it's pretty much what I was expecting (was hoping for 1200). As I finally got GTA for Xmas, I might get this - we'll see where I'm at with my massive to-play pile!
  • HarryB #9 3 years ago

well I hope it comes out on a disc eventually so I can rent it :)
  • Vice.Destroyer #10 3 years ago

I'm sold. I've played GTA IV far, far too much and still don't get bored of it. I like it.
  • michaelius #11 3 years ago

LoL no chance - DLC main target is milking people without giving them chance at second hand or used market :D
  • the_dudefather #12 3 years ago

Hard to say if I'll get it or not, but seems like an alright price for what you get

The main story missions are really easy to complete in under 15 hours (there is an achievement for it), i think it took me 11 or 12.

That suggests this will probably have about 4-5 hours of gameplay. Not sure that is worth £14.
  • MasterNameless #14 3 years ago

"So Microsoft gave them a shedload of money so the dlc was only on 360 and now they're charging 14 quid a pop for it."

I'm curious how this doesn't make sense. They are a business after all, they paid for the content to be made for the 360, and are charging to recoup the cash, and make a profit. Nothing unusual about that, unless MS became a registered charity recently without me noticing!?!

It's a fair chunk of gameplay for that price by the sound of it, if I get round to finishing the main game and finish all my other games I'll definitely consider it.

How much is it on PSN?

The achievement is for 30 hours, I did it in 20 I think and I was burning through it quite quickly. No doubt times of 11-12 hours are possible though.
  • the_dudefather #17 3 years ago

    @Benno

I see what you did there

Under 30 hours... the Achievement that is. And I think those 11-12 hours are a bit too far out..., even if you're a relative to Usain Bolt.

edit: And I'm not eevn sure why anyone would want to run through a game as soon as humanly possible. There are guys fans of the "run-through scene" (there are some famous ones on Halo)..., can't understand.

"£14 LOL! for a few extra missions, what a con! Microlol "
Poor-people-lol. Don't say anything to Microlol, but they could charge 50 pounds I'd buy it anyway...

    Bitter and jealous much?
  • mazzl #22 3 years ago

i bought the original game for 34 euro's, the engine is already done this time around.
so this is way to expensive.
    i don't think i'll be buying this.

i stand corrected, you are right, my memory is playing tricks.

8-10 hours sounds a lot more reasonable at £14, bugger, there goes another £28, assuming the second pack is a similar size.

"How much is it on PSN? "

    about £165

    £130 for an Xbox
    £20 for GTA
    £15 for the DLC.....
    :)
  • metalangel #25 3 years ago

Not convinced by this. Not least of all because it will likely involve hours of riding around on the crappy Zombie bike as opposed to the lovely NRG or even the PCJ.
  • miiiguel #26 3 years ago

Historical piece of software. The 1st GTA DLC! In ten years I will be able to say: "I was there, I rode those bikes!"
  • Moribundman #27 3 years ago

    So you've seen it.

Any truth at all in these vampire rumours? Different enough?

    Roll on six pee em.

I suppose technically, since the DLC is not intended to be *fully* integrated into the story of GTAIV itself you could use the engine and Liberty city as a base in which to set any sort of game content and many different and varied types of DLC - in much the same way as NYC is an existing place that is used in many different ways for many different films...
  • Widge #28 3 years ago

...and where have all the GTA4 is shit people gone?

New missions are good, although I think Rockstar should have lumped in some more 'fluffy' things. More shops, more odd games to indulge in. Fluff as it may be, makes the world entertaining.
  • dazrichards #29 3 years ago

It's a third of the main game's missions not a third of the game. That would involve an extra island, more music etc.

Although I bought the PS3 version thinking that the forthcoming DLC wont be worth it I'm still on the fence about it
  • Moribundman #30 3 years ago

    @Widge

Has it been confirmed they haven't done that?

I assumed there'd be new places to hang out with their own activities (minus the nagging cousin), new characters/friends (or as Saints Row seems to like calling them "homies";) and hopefully a patched/improved save system.

We've already seen they have new missions, weapons and radio options.

I'm also interested to see how this cross-pollinates with the main game - if there are new locations can you explore them with Niko? Can he use the new guns and tune in to the new choons? Just curious.
  • kinky_mong #31 3 years ago

This is exactly why I'm not convinced. I HATED having to use the bikes in the game, this really needs to be something special if I'm going to fork out about £14 for ten of hours of that. To put that in perspective I bought a new copy of Oblivion for a tenner two days ago.
  • IneptPercy #32 3 years ago

I will probably get this, if it was just more Niko missions I wouldn't bother, but due to the nature of the main character(s) it will have quite a different story I would think.

Old city, new story... works for me.

Forget comparisons to the original game size, at that price it comes into the "why not" catagory of purchasing.
  • Nodebug #33 3 years ago

What else is included? Needs more co-op missions if I'm gonna put that much back into the game.
  • HolyJebus #34 3 years ago

It would have been nice (if risky) for them to change it up massively in the DLC. Still use the same world of course with same physics and everything but maybe recreate an I Am Legend type scenario. Deserted streets with lots of zombie thingies around. Or Ghostbuster style fighting giant monsters. Cloverfield - trying to avoid giant monsters. Hancock - Smart ass superhero flying around annoying everyone. Day After Tomorrow - Giant flooded city. Independance Day - Alien invasion. ETC ETC ETC
  • Burkey123 #35 3 years ago

I love GTAIV and I really want this but I only have a ps3 :(
    Poor me.
  • smoison #36 3 years ago

I never finished GTA4, so new missions wont float my boat.

However, they should really think of adding new city areas and vehicles... that would interest me much more.
  • metalangel #37 3 years ago

Kinky_mong, I was griping more about having to ride a slow bike ;) My Niko used bikes as his primary transport, his collection of nice cars reserved for fussy girlfriends (after one dumped me after a colossal bike accident!)
  • Liamario #38 3 years ago

GTA is a good game, I don't think anyone can argue there. But, do people really play it for the story missions. I really couldn't care about the story, it was always the obstacle i needed to get out of the way so I could drive around and kill prostitutes.

Remember when all the xbots were hyping this DLC to be the second coming of jesus?

No...merely as incentive to buy the 360 version.
  • smelly #42 3 years ago

    >and where have all the GTA4 is shit people gone?

I wouldnt say "shit" .. just not as good as any GTA3 game.. The only gta i've not been bothered to complete.
  • MrChallacombe #43 3 years ago

i'm sorry. £14 for some new missions?
did i miss the new island, cars and guns.

That's ridiculous. i can by a pre-owned game for that.

People bought the 360 version because it would have the DLC... can't see them shifting much at the price.

    Con.
  • Edz72 #44 3 years ago

Wouldn't touch it even at a fiver. GTA 4 has long gone now so there's no way I'd buy a used copy & then this DLC on top knowing I'd get nothing back..

Also don't fancy wasting any more of my life doing the same thing over and over again :(

  • chrisjm #45 3 years ago

needed to be £10 or less, not going to jump into getting this. shame as was looking forward to it but seems poor value.
  • IneptPercy #46 3 years ago

I am failing to this this, its just more of the same arguement, hasn't the entire GTA series been more of the same?

So why not do it this way on a budget? people not happy with £13 for this yet you will probably be happy to spend £35-£40 on GTA5 and do 'more of the same' then?
  • Edz72 #47 3 years ago

No most of the previous GTA's had a good variation in the missions, where as GTA 4 had none after the first 2 hours, and with the excepotion of the bank job they all pretty much sucked :(

Take Vice city as an example, one mission you had to dress up as a golfer and batter someone on the golf course, then you had a mission where you had to steal a tank. There was nothing like that in GTA 4 it was just go here and kill someone random.

Also lets not forget the story which was non existent.

I must to agree. GTA IV lacks for new ideas. But the game, for me, is ok.

Memo to Rockstar: 1 Dollar = 1 Euro is soooo 2002...
