New patents would suggest so.

The next instalment in the Grand Theft Auto series will be titled GTA: Vice City Stories - at least, that's if three new applications filed with the US patent office are anything to go by.

Rockstar's parent company, Take-Two, filed three patents for the GTA: VCS name. The first refers to a game, while the second applies to the right to use the name on merchandising. The third, rather interestingly, hints that a Vice City Stories movie or TV show could be in development.

Course, it could be that Rockstar is simply protecting its ownership rights to the VCS name - or, and this isn't much of a stretch for the imagination, that the follow-up to PSP title Liberty City Stories will indeed be set in the familiar territory of Vice City. Our money's on the latter, but let's wait and see what pops up at E3, shall we...

I have LCS, but VCS would be 10 times better. I have far too many 80's mp3's to put on my memory stick...

I'd be much more excited by this than I was about LCS.

The best addition in VC was the bikes IMO, but LCS already has them. So I hope they 'port' a few more SA additions into this one.

Played it a lot in fact. Got around 70+ secret packages atm. Still i would rather have whole new game. The map is the same, the vehicles are mostly the same, the models too and even the weapons don't offer nothing new. Seeing as i rather like GTA i end up playing it anyway i can. Doesn't mean i'm not somewhat dissapointed with it all the same.

Does seem like a little bit of a cash-in, but it's no bad thing really. I heart GTA.

Haven't been keeping up to date, but isn't it the case that you can bypass all firmwares using the adapted Liberty City Stories save file? That way you can play LCS and Chrono Trigger.

If Chrono Trigger is homebrew, it's probably not guaranteed to work under 2.0+ firmware.

Oooold news, but in case you're not aware, you can play LCS on 1.5 without any firmware up&downgrades.

Runs great on my 1.5 off the stick - morally ambiguous I suppose, but I actually bought LCS on release anyway (only to wait bloody ages for it to work /gnashes teeth) so "meh" is my response to the (possibly justified) accusations of piracy.
