New WOW race unveiled
And the winner is... The Draenei!
Blizzard has confirmed that the new Alliance race for World of Warcraft expansion The Burning Crusade is in fact the Draenei, putting an end to the speculation, rumour and fervent debate on the subject.
The New York Times article which broke the news features a direct link to the relevant page on Blizzard's website, so we're taking it the truth has finally broken.
The Draenei are descendents of the demonic Eredar race, and form one of the three groups of inhabitants on Draenor (the place where most of the Burning Crusade action takes place) together with ogres and orcs.
Draenei are bitter enemies of the orcs, and are consumed by an unquenchable bloodlust whenever they sense their presence, so expect some pretty full on battles in the new expansion.
The article goes on to say that the Draenei race, along with the mountable Nether Drake flying beasts and Nexxramas, the next big dungeon in the game will all be on show at E3, so expect more comprehensive details once our LA team have got their hands on it.

Seriously. Thoroughly predictable... though the Worgen sounded kinda cool...

A couple to note were the Worgen, rather like the Forsaken though, the alliance would have been more one of convenience than one of loyalty. I did like the idea of the Worgen, near-werewolflike, could have done some cool things with racial abilities and the like. Only question I had was how equipment would look on them...
The other was the more ludicrous, the Mok'Nathal. THough one day I REALLY hope to be playing one of these guys - they're huge, they kick ass and they're half orc, half ogre. Again, plenty of sweet deals to be done on racial abilities there.
I guess it is true though. We saw this one coming, which kind of spoiled the surprise a little. Doesn't mean they won't be bad-ass and won't tempt me to roll one on the side... but thoroughly predictable and somehow, I guess that's the real disappointment...

I like WoW, but why do they have to continually rape the franchise just to fit what they think of as the ideal MMO.

I'm bored to death of WoW as it is today, so I'm really looking forward to this.
