New Wii, DS Final Fantasy revealed News

A European announcement for brand new Wii and DS game Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time is "imminent", Square Enix told Eurogamer today. The games are due out in the US in spring 2009.

Echoes of Time centres around a 16-year-old lad who has his party cut short because some idiot girl gets crystal sickness. Our hero doesn't moan though, and instead ventures out of his secluded village into the wide world in search of a cure.

The most eye-catching feature is cross-platform, Wii-to-DS Wi-Fi multiplayer, but there's not much detail on how this will work, or how many can play together. However, we're told there will be an easy switch between playing on your own and joining up with someone else.

The Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fates control system will return, and there's lots of customisation promised, both across the four playable races - Clavats, Lilites, Selkies, Yukes - and from materials, armour, equipment and so on and so forth.

Cleverly, Wii players will also be able to import their Mii avatars into Echoes of Time.
