NWN2 add-on coming next week

Mysteries of Westgate to cost a tenner.

Atari has announced that Neverwinter Nights 2 adventure pack Mysteries of Westgate will launch on Wednesday, 29th April.

The pack will cost 10 dollars or pounds or Euros, and be available to download from the Atari Store.

Mysteries of Westgate is made by Ossian Studios - not to be confused with NW2 developer Obsidian Studios - which was noticed after creating Neverwinter Nights module Darkness over Daggerford.

This adventure pack has around 15 hours more D&D content to uncover, based on the underground Night Masks organisation and a plot to overthrow the city of Westgate. Complimenting the new story will be professionally voiced characters, a brand new musical score and plenty of new gameplay content.

Once upon a time we had been prepared for Mysteries of Westgate launch in late 2007. We're not sure what the hold-up has been, but there's plenty more information to be found over on the official Mysteries of Westgate website.

Cool, I love NWN2, some graphical problems but I really thought it was a quality story driven game.

Hope it's better than. Storm of Zehir couldn't get into that.

The hold up was Atari wanting to incorporate a new DRM system to digitally deliver products themselves, with MoW being their testing product, hence why it's been finished for over a year.

i loved NWN 1 + all expansions, but couldn't get into NWN2 at all. Met the dwarf and stopped playing, it has sat on a shelf ever since :(

^ Play Mask of the Betrayer. No excuses.

Anyway I'mnot really convinced by these "Premium Modules" Obsidian have made an expansion worth my time, but I've not been convinced by any of these others.

I've herd good things about this expantion, though i'am worried about the type of DRM they have for it. The original NWN bioware mods had terrible DRM, they needed to check online on every load :(

MotB was a great expantion and the orignal NWN2 game had a lot of potential but was rushed out.

NVW2 kept crashing all the time on my machine back when the game was released : have all these bugs been sorted out since then ? I would love to play this...
  • Hunam #10 3 years ago

Most of the bugs have been sorted Rick, mostly due to the 25+ patches it's had :)
  • RickHard #11 3 years ago

Thanks for the feedback Hunam !

I'll try to re-install it one of this days then (guess it will take 2+ hours due to the 25 patches ;)

I couldn't get into Storm of Zehir either, shame as it sounded promising being more trade based.

Not sure if I'll pick this one up, Mask of the Betrayer hit the highest spot possible for NWN2. Everything else feels anticlimactic.

Heard some very positive things about this from the nwn2 community, those who received early review copies claiming it blows all of the official campaigns out of the water. Ossian are basically modders dun good, its a shame they got treated like crap by atari, but well.. they're atari...
