Mortal Kombat II on PS3 Store
C'mere!
Digital Eclipse's PS3 port of Mortal Kombat II has finally arrived in Europe, as you may have read earlier in this week's highly offensive new-releases column. It's available to buy on the PS3 Store for EUR 2.99 during an introductory period.
As well as letting you play the infamous 2D beat-'em-up against the CPU or a friend as one of the game's 12 iconic characters (you know, Sub Zero, Scorpion, Raiden, etc.), the PS3 port of MKII allows you to go online and beat people up there, too, with stat-tracking and leaderboards so you can keep an eye on exactly how good you are.
Alternatively, you can go on GameFAQs, download a fatality guide and just watch the funny animations all weekend, which is what we did with the SNES version. Seems like a waste of money now.

still get the mega drive out to play it every now and then.
Don't think i'll bother with this though, i was hoping for Calling All Cars this week, nevermind.

MK2 is the most playable of the MK games and isn't a total travesty like the rest of the series but it's not a patch on the far better Capcom and SNK games.

I prefer MKII over MKIII.
It actually aged well. It's surprisingly balanced tbh. Especially in comparison to "current gen" MK games. The same kids who would always beat me in MKA had their asses handed over to them.
Hey, add me to your friends list if you want to challenge me in mortal kombat: FranXico.

3 euros is all they ask you to pay, mate. And only once.

Well, unless it has been bumped up to 720p like Tekken 5 Dark Ressurection was...

There's an in-game smoothing option though.

EDIT: Ah, I didn't see the EUR. Use the Eruo sign: € (hold Ctrl+Alt then press 4). (:

Even little articles like this which just overview a new(ish) release - have an anti-PlayStation sentiment.
It's hardly objective journalism and I'm sure EG coud do better.
Still... £1.99 for MKII, with online stuff and a little spit-n-polish. Lovely stuff!
Can't wait for Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo HD Redux! Then I truly might stop looking to the Wii store for console retro gaming!

Good price though. Take note Nintendo.

Well, maybe not, but the sequels were all brilliant fighting games IMO. I prefer them to Street Fighter to be honest. Much more fun.

Online is a bit odd - seem to spend an age hanging around waiting for other people to press start, but aside from that, it's a good 8/10 game (for the price).
Graphic smoothing options work well too.
