MG Acid for PSN "possible" - Kojima

Although nothing's in development.

Metal Gear Solid superdad Hideo Kojima has told Eurogamer that it's "possible" the Metal Gear Acid games could end up on PlayStation Network, although he stressed nothing is in production.

Kojima was in Germany at Games Convention to chat in the aftermath of June's Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriot release, and as big fans of the PSP Acid series, we couldn't resist checking on its future.

"I'll say yes to that idea, but not because it is already running or anything," Kojima told Eurogamer when asked about the possibility of porting the turn-based strategy titles to PSN.

"I'm just saying yes because it's possible, I think it is possible. Sorry to say we don't have specific plans at the moment, but it is possible, yes."

There have been two Metal Gear Acid games to far, both exclusive to the PSP. The idea in both is to manoeuvre Solid Snake (and eventually another character) around traditional MGS-style environments trying to avoid being seen and reach your goals.

Movement and actions are turn-based, with longer cool-down periods for more energetic activities like firing rifles. To add additional intrigue, actions are powered by a customisable deck of cards, each of which has certain properties and uses.

It takes a little getting used to (although the second game removed some of the barriers for entry), but still we still miss it. Hopefully Kojima will go home and issue orders to his Kojima Productions pals.

Check out our Metal Gear Acid 2 review in the meantime.

Weren't they kinda mediocre anyway? Still, they would guarantee to sell shit loads just because they've got the MG name.

I liked the Metal Gear Acid games, but putting them on the PSN is meaningless to me, since I already have them. That's why I say Metal Gear Acid games, more please.

Hopefully the more those of us who liked MGA shout about it, the more likely they are to resurrect it. Especially now Kojima has nothing to do*.

*Until he decides he can't give it up.

I liked MGA2 a lot, which supprised me because I'd hated the Metal Gear franchise up to that point.
MGA1 I've yet to finish, but did get quite far into and enjoyed.

Would be nice for them to continue, though I'd prefer it if they kept Snake out from now on. We've seen his storyline come to a close, and rewinding time to younger Snake days just seems unprogressive and uninteresting.
Perhaps its time for Meryl and Johny to get some time in the spotlight? Having a married couple taking videogame centre-stage might be interesting.

Hmmm I liked MGA, but I don't think these games belong to a "big" console, even downloadable. They were designed for handheld in the first place.

I found their "Marry me" scene very, very "Mr and Mrs Smith" myself. Not sure if I'd like that story to continue.

They could do several characters. There is Big Boss of course, Ocelot, Grey Fox's earlier foxhound days, BIG MAMA.

I'm just not mad keen on another 'flashback' episode in Metal Gear.
Mid you, I'm hardly the biggest fan of MG lore anyway, but I'd still rather they continue on from the end of MGS4 - even if it was just a small side-story - than try to revisit the past.

And with most of the old cast being either dead or...well.. old, that means only a few remain.
Raiden (hmm, possibly), Otacon (as backup perhaps), Sunny (would have to be waaay into the future), The Rat Patrol guys (easyest option) or the supporting characters from the 2 MGA games (though I dunno what happens to the lass at the end of MGA1. Does she survive?).

Man, for someone who really never liked MGS I seem to have played all but one of the games (Skipped MGS3). Whats with that?

EDIT: Spoiler tags added on request.

Why would someone ask, unless they already heard about it in the first place?

The Ac!d games were alright, nothing special though. Think the game play suits the hand held console more.

Couldn't care for it on PSN, wouldn't mind a third Acid game on the PSP though.

Why would anyone want these on PSN?
They were shit on the PSP.

    Let them die.
