GTAIV double-episode disc to cost £34.99

October 29th date confirmed as worldwide.

Rockstar has confirmed a UK price for the disc featuring both episodes of the Grand Theft Auto IV DLC.

It'll cost £34.99, which is a bit more than our American friends are paying - over there it's priced at $39.99, equivalent to just under 25 quid. For that you'll get The Ballad of Gay Tony plus the first DLC episode, The Lost and Damned.

As announced earlier, The Ballad of Gay Tony will launch on 29th October. Rockstar has confirmed that date applies globally.

Can't help but notice this article misses out the usual Shopto link to it, having at £25. Have they had to change it?

Regardless, it's nice that offline players have the option, or people without credit cards, but they should'nt be penalised for it with a much higher price. AS I say though, with Shopto having it at £25 I think that's cheaper than the DLC, isn't it? Correct me if I'm wrong, which I probably am.

    EDIT:

£25 as I said, which is a bit more reasonable.

"The package will not require a copy of the original Grand Theft Auto IV to play." - Suddenly I got rather interested in this bundle.

Assuming you need the original game to play the additional disc, it works out to be rather expensive. Accepting that it adds several hours to the over gameplay. I would have thought an RRP of say £20 - £25 would have been more reasonable.

Edit - Oh, so you can play it alone? Hmmm... so how long do both episodes last?

Thats pretty expensive, I'll wait till I can get it for £10 or something - there's so many other good games outhere.

They're 1600 points each, or £13.60... that's £27.20 for both of them. So, for the extra £7.79, you get a disc and the ability to play both without having GTAIV, which given how long ago that was released is a good thing.

I wonder if there'll be extra achievements for the disc version over the DLC versions.

If I'd known they were going to release both like this, I wouldn't have got TLAD already.

To all the people complaining about the price, people have already mention Shopto is doing it for £25. And RobertFoster makes a great point about getting it on disc and not needing the GTAIV disc to play. Quit your whining! I was sorely tempted to buy TLAD not long ago when I didn't have much to play (and I'd been watching Sons of Anarchy ;))... now I think I'll wait and grab this!
  • lavalant #7 3 years ago

Damn I wouldn't have got the TLAD DLC if i knew this, this has put me off any big DLC packs in future, I'm lucky I never bought any Fallout3's DLC as it's all coming on one disc but for those that did I can feel their frustration. Makes you wonder if xbla games will follow.

  • suicida #8 3 years ago

As a disc based game you'll also be able to sell it on or trade it in - something you can't do with the DLC...
  • Rubarack #9 3 years ago

Might be something to do with the relative cuts, if Shopto can sell it for £25 then I doubt Rockstar are getting a ton more this way. Either way I reckon this is going to be a rental.
  • Hog-lumps #10 3 years ago

So if you don't need the gta4 disc for this - then I wonder what the trade in/cash value for gta4 for it would be? Might be another way to get both episodes for cheaper?
  • superdamiarno #11 3 years ago

I'm fairly interested in this. Another point not mentioned already, is the fact us 360 arcade owners now have a chance to play the episodes. I've got the original on PS3, but with no need to own the original disc on 360 as well, it seems a reasonable price to me (the shopto price anyway).

I love GTA4 on my PC, but would definitely consider buying this pack to run on 360 if there is no requirement to repurchase GTA4.

Why do we have to pay more than the US? Is that extra tenner going into Gordon Brown's pocket?
  • 8bitMofo #14 3 years ago

Could anyone imagine what Rockstar would put in the box of a prestige edition...

  • lunalicrichard #16 3 years ago

its the same in the netherlands, here they take the us price and convert it to euro's witch is 100 % more than if you would import it.
  • lunalicrichard #17 3 years ago

for the poeple who are wondering ; according to my info, you'll have to have a copy of gt4 to play this disc.it is mentioned on several other sites.

Think £65 for SFII and Mario 64 were my all time biggest outlays for a game, unless you count Wii Fit at 70 notes. Tend not to go over £30 for a game now. Anyhow, I'm a PS3 GTA4 owner and getting the 360 DLC without needing to get a 360 GTA4 disc is massively appealing. Lost and Damned simply has been off bounds for me cus of original purchase of the game.
