Destroy All Humans PS3 coming to Europe

It's going to be a regional exclusive.

THQ has clarified the situation with Destroy All Humans! Path of Furon - saying the PS3 version will be released in Europe after all.

Yesterday it was reported that the game will only be available for Xbox 360 in the US. Now a THQ UK representative has stated both versions are still on track for a European release.

"Destroy all Humans: Path of the Furon will be released on both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 formats on February 13th 2009 across Europe," he stated.

"Due to the game being shipped earlier in North America on 2nd December a decision was made to proceed exclusively with the Xbox 360 format in that market."

Phew.

I bought the second for £2 last year and thought it was garbage.

Doesn't change the fact that I won't be buying it.

I mean, they just complained about development issues. That always translates to shitty ports!

Thankfully, there are plenty of good games this Christmas.

WTF! THQ are really F'ed up. You mean it's so bad they are only releasing it in Europe.. Thanks THQ! Another shitty game on the shelf that'll probably sell because of the 'uninformed gamer'.

Oh dear the trolls in the other article aren't going to like this news. :p

A big W.T.F to this, it makes no sense at all, why not just release the US version at the same time as the Europe release if they're going to utilise the extra development time like that?

It is a Shame that Sandblast was shut down. They were a good bunch of guys. but also, I hate Pandemic for selling the franchise off, they could have done wonders with the series.. much more than the stupid repetitive crap Mercenaries is.
  • saku_luk #11 3 years ago

PS3 games are region free so whats the problem if someone doesnt live in EU? just import if you want it badly o_O
  • Steroyd #12 3 years ago

    Doesn't the £££ > $$$ conversion rate mean they'd be paying upto $90?

Then again with the economic crisis I don't know what conversion rates do what anymore.
  • saku_luk #13 3 years ago

games in US are cheaper than in EU thats right, at least once they can feel how EU players are ripped ;p
  • ZuluHero #14 3 years ago

i thought the first 2 Destroy all humans reviewed well - why all the hate?

this is a market share issue why try and sell it to the 5 us ps3 owners? in europe it's more of an even split so they have to sell it to both in japanoland they might not ship the 360 version although as it's probably the proper version i reckon they will
  • SpyroViper #16 3 years ago

Because the first 2 games were developed by Pandemic (who created the series).

Great news!!! Oh, wait, Destroy All Humans? Nothing to see here, move along.
  • DrDamn #18 3 years ago

Looks like a case of PS3 dev issues pushing that release out. The US have decided to ditch it and run with the 360 version to hit Xmas and perhaps tie in with marketing they have already paid for, EU have decide to wait for the PS3 version to be ready and avoid the Xmas rush and save the marketing for the dual release.

I think they will probably sell more in the EU where it won't be swamped by the higher profile stuff in the run up to Christmas.

I thought the first was interesting, but not as fun to play as it should have been.
  • michaelius #19 3 years ago

So WTF do they think european gamer is more stupid than us ps3 owner so more likely to buy this crap ?

""Development issues" what a big pile of turd!
Paid timed exclusive... nothing else :/ "

Yeah, cos it's not like the PS3 isn't an absolute bitch to get 360 parity visuals out of or anything, is it?
  • JYM60 #22 3 years ago

"i thought the first 2 Destroy all humans reviewed well - why all the hate?"

They were playable I guess. The open world was so boring though.
  • neonemesis #23 3 years ago

Meh, it was fun chucking cars around with your mind powers though or flinging them across the city with your UFO tractor beam :)
  • GamesConnoisseur #24 3 years ago

At least....European PS3 owners get something extra that their US cousins doesnt have for a nice change!

A North American SKU would likely have had English, Spanish and French on it, all languages that would also be included in the European SKU, which suggests that it would be dead easy to make a version for our American friends. And with a release date of next Tuesday they didn't just suddenly decide they weren't going to have it ready in time. So either they've got massive problems with the PS3 version that they're hoping they can fix in the extra few weeks they've got for the Euro release, or they weren't able to get it through Sony's NA certification in time for some reason. Either way, any Americans that really want it will be able to import it if they're willing to pay for it. There be eBay business to be had here.

Or the dev team will about face and release an NA version at a later date.
  • SpyroViper #26 3 years ago

The Dev team won't because as soon as the PS3 version is done, so are they. But if THQ do close Sandblast as soon as the EU version is out the door, then who is going to do the PAL - NTSC conversion? THQ.. LOL, dought it.

"When did a US company first work on the PAL version? "

IIRC they typically work on both, it's just another requirement as far as the dev house is concerned

"And why shouldn't the publisher release the game in other regions?"

Lots of reasons. Firstly, there may not be enough PS3 owners in US/JP to justify the cost of localisation, legal checks and getting release approval from SCEA and SCEJ. Secondly it could be that the EMEA version was done but the US/JP versions need extra work to pass certification.

I mean nobody's going to really buy this game anyway, it's all about minimising loss at this point, if they think they can recoup sales in EMEA for the PS3 great.
  • Nithron #28 3 years ago

I actually like the Destroy All Humans games. Well... the original two anyway. Does this make me some sort of uncultured gaming philistine?
  • Garulon #29 3 years ago

No'sfine, I think everyone has a guilty pleasure like that in their gaming collection, right Enchanted Arms? Ahhww, nobody loves you but me...
  • IneptPercy #30 3 years ago

As other say I am looking forward to this, if it gets a 6/10 or better then I wil get it at some point.
  • Gaol #31 3 years ago

Weird, weird decision. Why spend time working on this and choose not to release it, even if it's late.
  • Mawich #32 3 years ago

This makes no sense at all.
