Devil May Cry 4 iOS released

Capcom offers launch day price cut.

Devil May Cry 4 Refrain has hit the App Store, and it's going cheap for a limited time only.

£1.19 will get you 10 levels of portable DMC gameplay starring new protagonist Nero. According to the game's App Store listing, the game features a "Deep combo system" courtesy of Nero's "Devil Bringer" arm, retina display graphics and Game Center Achievements.

Capcom hasn't confirmed how long the offer will last so if you're curious you'd best leap in now. A full UK price hasn't been confirmed but it will be $6.99 in the US.

You might like to bare in mind the fact that Capcom's mobile division doesn't have a rich heritage of producing fun console-to-iOS ports. Dead Rising was borderline unplayable and Resident Evil 4 wasn't much better.

Do let us know how you get on should you risk a download.

Heh, does it require an always-on 3G connection?

App store reviews seem to say that it's another port of a Japanese phone game. The screenshots look appalling, Infinity Blade it is not.

Just downloaded it and you know what? It's great fun. If you're a devil may cry fan you'll enjoy it. It's not the best app store game by a fair stretch, but that's not enough to write it off.

It's not too bad. The moves are mostly there, as are the enemies and bosses. You can still jump in the air, pull in an enemy with the Devil Bringer and then hit them with a combo as you fall, but the levels are rather plain interconnected boxes rather than large environments to explore. There are a few nice looking places but usually it's just boxes.

Mostly it's made me want to play the console version again, but if you get it for the cheapo price it's a harmless enough diversion.

Think I'll wait for Kristan's round up...

I’ve only played it for a short while and it looks ok, characters are pretty good but the environments are really drab. I imagine it’ll be a good 6/10 unless you’re a DMC nut and then you could probably bump it up to a 7/10

TBH quality games like Dead Space have really spoilt average games for me, there really isn’t any comparison and Capcom could and should have made more of an effort
