Hello readers. Today we have IMPORTANT NEWS for fans of classic Sega Mega Drive platformer Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse. First of all, you are old. That game came out 22 years ago. Yes really.
Secondly, Castle of Illusion is not as good as you remember. I know it seemed great at the time, but so did the Spin Doctors and Ghostbusters II. Allow YouTube to tear your rose-tinted glasses from your face and crush them under its cruel heel, and the game will be revealed as a solid but derivative and repetitive platformer.
Epic Mickey: The Power of Illusion has long been billed as the spiritual successor to Castle of Illusion. Congratulations, then, to Disney, which has created a game even more derivative and repetitive than the original.
Epic Mickey 2: Power of Illusion has been given a firm release date, with the side-scrolling spin-off due out on November 18, the same date as its console brethren Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two.
The 3DS game is a spiritual successor to the popular Mega Drive title The Castle of Illusion. It's being developed by Dreamrift, the outfit behind the well-received Henry Hatsworth game for the Nintendo DS.
The news came through Nintendo's 3DS software showcase, where it's running through first and third-party highlights for the handheld over the coming year.
Disney has revealed the first details on Epic Mickey: Power of Illusion, set for release on Nintendo 3DS this autumn and developed by DreamRift in collaboration with Junction Point.
It features painting and 3D transformation capabilities "designed to give players the unique ability to create objects and even characters they can place in the world of Wasteland". You can create rough versions of objects that transform into classic Disney style 2D illustrations. You can then move your creation to the 3DS' top screen where they are transformed into full colour, fully rendered 3D visuals.
Disney said the game "pays tribute" to the classic Sega Mega Drive platformer Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse. Power of Illusion revolves around the Castle of Illusion, which has fallen into Wasteland, the alternate world that provides the setting for Epic Mickey and Epic Mickey 2.
The Wii is the lead platform for Epic Mickey 2 - but that doesn't mean the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 version is an "up-rezzed" port, designer Warren Spector has insisted.
Veteran game designer Warren Spector has asked gamers to "take a chill pill" and relax about the musical Epic Mickey 2.
Epic Mickey 2 will launch on PC and Mac, developer Junction Point has confirmed.
The two versions of the game join Epic Mickey 2's expanding roster of launch platforms, which currently stands at six.
Epic Mickey launched exclusively on Wii. The sequel launches on Wii, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC and Mac. A 3DS game, which works differently than the other versions, is also in the works.
The 3DS version of Epic Mickey 2 is a follow-up to cult classic 1990 Mega Drive game Castle of Illusion.
