@Histeria Casual insinuations about a strangers inferiority due to a percieved difference in maturity is fine.. Telling your mates they have a small dick is however beyond the pale of course. Reply+7
What!? So wait if the person who worked on my arm decided I could no longer show it what are they going to do? Flay the entire arm? 'Cause I think I have some serious problems with not owning the rights to the skin on my right arm. Reply+40
I'm sure theres space for the sort of thing Cage makes, but to me they're just not really games... though expanding out various sub-mediums might be something to do already have stuff like interactive novels, Heavy Rain seems to be in an awkward position between game and movie, not for me at all but still perhaps a market that should expand. @DanWhitehead I dont really remember having to declare my sexual orientation when I went to Gamescom... the strange thing to me about segregation isn't that they're making themselves a target whereby they'd be otherwise indistinguishable but in that they themselves are reinforcing the opinion that they are different to other people and everyone knows that humans as a generalisation abhor the diffferent. ... this article is something special, I mean you make random sub-text claims would a male character be treated this way?! THINK OF THE SEXISM.. the answer would be yes? But we dont really have any games that explore the creation of the hero character in such a way, the fact that we do now have one but its female makes it automatically sexist? That's an absurd logical leap, unless you're stating only men can be treated in this way? (see I can make logical leaps too).
The rest is just kind of flawed, this old adage is perfect here; you have to learn to walk before you can run. The article demands that gaming grows up before it tackles grown up themes, but all that is part of the growing up process. I don't know about anyone else here but them years ago when I turned 18 I didn't just go whelp I'm an adult now I'm all adult and adult like, no I felt no different from when I was supposedly a kid. These things have to be explored as part of the process of growing up you can't learn to be an adult without having to tackle adult like situations and it's absurd to think otherwise.
Kicking that explorative growing up process in the knee when it tries to walk because it's not learned to run yet, is simply wrong.
That's not to say everything gets a free pass, if a theme or whatever is poorly implemented then review it knock the score down make rants about it, so that the exploration gets feedback and grows don't dead end it saying games can't explore this yet thereby continuing a close minded approach to themes in games (i.e. that they're not ready therefore don't try) actively contributing to a stagnation in growth of themes and messages in games is quite frankly a dick move, and thats what this article says. Don't try. Reply+6
So.. with the average age of gamers up at around 34, I can clearly see you're marketing your product to the correct audience by flogging stuff with cuddly toys!
... I don't know why but its like the execs have decided to not even try and understand their market at all recently. Reply+28
I thought flash was going to be incompatible with win8 and apple already doesn't support it? I mean of course not everyone will update to win8 but seems theres a push towards html5 so...?
I still remember playing streets of rage like crazy on the old mega drive, aswell as the inbuilt alex the kidd on my master system, never did get a NES but marble madness and alex the kidd are some of my earlier gaming memories.
Crazy how much of an impact SEGA had when i was a kid and how much they seem to have faded now (though I'm a massive fan of Yakuza so there's something they're still doing right)

So what, they develop the games on the pc but don't playtest them as they build, because the development for the pc game which is being developed on the pc hasn't started until they've finished developing? Makes sense. Reply-4
Meh I was fine with mercer to the point where setting him up as the antagonist kinda hampers my excitement for the sheer batguano insanity of the game. Reply0
Meh, it was alright, but then I don't think dark / demon souls combat is that good either, perhaps if you play a more dexterous character or use a smaller shield, but for me who just essentially stood there in the heavest of armour with the biggest piece of metal in front of him he could find, the combat was reduced to them hitting my slab of metal bouncing off and then me hitting them with a great axe which would pretty much instantly kill them...
To me the best combat system I've experienced in an RPG is Witcher 2 on dark mode or Mount and Blade, and Amalur has nothing on them. Reply-2
Wait, Legacy is pretty much better than the full game in terms of design, tighter gameplay, stronger defined story and yet is getting slated across the board, whereas the full game got pretty high reviews...?
Really don't understand it at all.
Ahh well, DA2 was fun, Legacy is better, hopefully that'll be pushed forward for DA3 or an expansion. Reply+1
I was interested in this as I preferred the original over Infamous (blasphemy I know) but I really have no desire whatsoever to fight mercer. Just seems like a cop out really.
Besides didnt the first one pretty much explicitly state mercer is unkillable due to him being somewhat dead already and essentially being a conduit for the virus?
Trying to punch a virus to death doesn't strike me as a good idea. Reply+1
Almost worth getting purely for the vitriolic response by the reviewer, love how you sneak racism in there aswell is that sort of comment endorsed by eurogamer?
Will probably have to pick this one up at a later date and I'd never heard of this prior to this article. Reply0
