@grassyknoll Hopefully EA and Nintendo won't forever screw up Respawn like they did Criterion Games. http://www.mcvuk.com/news/read/ward-slams-nintendo-and-ea-over-wii-u-s-need-for-speed-most-wanted/0129308

I would prefer Respawn made a new WWI or II Medal of Honour game since that is the series they originally worked on and there isn't enough of those era games anymore.

  • Uncharted 4's multiplayer content will all be unlockable for free

  • andrewsqual 03/05/2016

@Decaf It was a joke. You are ignoring the parts I am saying that you want to ignore though.

Of course they love money but not AS much, hence the microtransactions. Its all in writing above, free content and people who want to pay can if they want to.
So its not the Gears of War 4 awkward strategy from last week they were proud to announce 5 months before launch or the expensive Halo 5 Ultimate Team randomness style either. These are literally 2 of Xbox's biggest franchises.

The no brainer about the sales is the fact that Microsoft will be selling to half the audience yet are still trying to get more money from that smaller userbase.

Its not the best topic to make that comparison of greed on is it? Use that in the next Sony last gen "remaster" announcement.

To sum up again, yes Sony love money but going by the DLC plan for the biggest PS4 game yet, most certainly not as much as Microsoft.

@Decaf But they aren't charging 40 quid to properly access the maps that are being released freely, so no, apparently Sony doesn't like money as much as MS in this case.
And there is potentially more money to be made in a game that will probably sell twice as much as Gears of War 4 (in case you didn't figure out what game's multiplayer road map I was comparing to).

Sometimes critics are hard to make out. I thought the new Terminator was okay but it got blasted by crtics for some reason. The same with Dumb and Dumberer (in case nobody knows, the original isn't too far off the sequel with critics).
On Rotten Tomatoes Ratchet and Clank is currently deemed a worse sci-fi movie than Jupiter Ascending.
Bull.......shit. I haven't seen R&C yet and I know it can't be written and executed that poorly.

At least Ratchet, Clank and Quark all retain the same voice talent from the game. I prefer to see good voice actors getting work because its what they specialise in, not give it to some celebrity who phones it in. Not sure if that's the case here but we will have to see. Reply +10

  • andrewsqual 01/05/2016

@markyidoeverett What are you talking about? So its 2 and a half years later and the devs should be able to magically get more out of the Xbone? That's not how game development works.
They want to push this engine further at a technical level since Battlefield 4. What the Xbone was capable with games at launch (Battlefield 4, Dead Rising 3) and since (Halo 5, Quantum Break) was/is a hint of what to expect from the console. Surely you know this by now.

@cloudskpa After the PS4 reveal and before the Xbone reveal on a Killzone Shadow Fall analysis article:

    Cloudskpa:
Reading that makes me excited for the future. 1080p will be so nice, no more upscaling and no need for an HDTV upgrade since we can finally use them to their full potential (as well as sit a lot closer to it!).

  • andrewsqual 29/04/2016

I think DF need to look at the game further. I read somewhere yesterday that yes the game has these 2 choices but with the 30fps option it still barely achieves full 1080p with a dynamic solution in place apparently. And the 60fps option hits 720p at the lowest of times. I can't find the article now though but maybe that source was wrong and I shouldn't doubt DF. :)

And no, I still don't like this on a game that looks very last gen at times and still won't defend it, so still no hypocrisy from me.

And imagine a scenario if I didn't buy the game because of the resolution concerns. Wouldn't that be the opposite of a hypocrite??? As you are implying, people like me always make a big deal about resolution when Xbone is concerned.

People seem to forget the Wii U was announced at E3 2011. Then E3 2012 came and went and nobody still knew nothing, then Gamescom 2012, still nothing but it WAS still coming the end of the year.
It wasn't until September 2012 they pin pointed the release date and price. It looks like history is repeating itself but we already knew that with the "Nintendo NX console is coming at some point" announcement way back in March 2015.
Was there any need to announce the console 2 years before its release date? Ask 10 people on the street what a Nintendo NX is, they won't have a clue. Ask 10 people on the street what a PS5 is, that doesn't even exist, and some of them might have an idea.

  • The Gears of War 4 season pass costs 40

  • andrewsqual 26/04/2016

@SonicUk Of course that would be skippy's attitude if it were a Sony game. But then that is hard to say too, seeing as we have just observed his stance with this on an Xbone game. It would more likely be complete silence.

The same way you didn't hear a peep from him on the graphics of the Gears of War 4 Beta/Alpha/Pre-Alpha. Or a single peep to say anything positive on the well received new Ratchet and Clank game which he has a fondness for back in the day (but not now because its irrelevant now of course, even though reviews have made it quite clear its a relevant game).

Incidentally there have been new 4k screens released for Gears of War 4 today from the campaign including character renders. Looks really good, gamersyde had them up earlier.

@Gearskin It works. I've been moaning about Resident Evil the last 7 years now. It took a while but people finally see it for the crap it has become today. RE6 failed miserably at accomplishing its targeted sales.

Protest means nothing? Now they are making a Resident Evil 2 REmake for crying out loud. It will more than likely still suck because modern day Capcom are making it but its a start. And because I've set my expectations so low for it, I won't have an overblown comment for that article when its first ingame footage is shown, like I'm sure many will (because there will be people for some bizarre reason that are expecting the Capcom of today to be able to willingly make a good RE game now).

    Far from insanity.

@devilmyarse But this isn't really the same thing as that. Fallout 4 is a better example of "don't bother buying this now, wait for the GOTY, if at all".
We know how Bethesda makes their games and the GOTY will probably feature the most bug fixes (with the latest patch being on the disc) but also alot more addon content, characters and creatures on the base game and more.
Buying the Ultimate Edition of Gears of War 4 (not GOTY for obvious reasons) later down the line won't gain as much new content benefits by comparison.
Here you are essentially being locked out of maps you could easily be given access to as you have them on the disc or will be downloading in mandatory patches. It would be like having to pay a 40 quid fee to access different creatures in a toys game like Skylanders if you wanted to do that.
The content is there, you just can't access it because of..... REASONS.

  • andrewsqual 21/04/2016

@Gamblix Same here, it felt like a Destinised Borderlands. Lots of exposition spouting in the single player missions rather than having a central hub to go back to for side missions like in Borderlands.
Its really underwhelming looking for a 30fps game and this is on Unreal 3 too.
Currently playing a lot of Handsome Collection on PS4 and Borderlands 2 on the PS3. Battleborn's input lag is massively noticeable compared to the other 2.

@Alan_M The jump from PS2 to 360 was really no different from Xbox to 360 and you know it.
So the jump from Forza to PGR3 wasn't much but the jump from the same looking game Gran Turismo 4 to PGR3 was "out of this world" by comparison? Are you high?

We know the Xbox Original had the more powerful specs, its just you wouldn't have known that from the games that came to it compared to PS2. There are even games on the Xbox original that came nowhere close or roughly the same graphically to the likes of God of War 2, Devil May Cry 3, Tekken 5, Metal Gear Solid 3, Okami, ICO, Gran Turismo 4, FFXII, Ratchet and Clank, Jak and Daxter.

Yeah going from the PS2 to 360 was "out of this world" when the PS2 actually turned next gen 360 owners heads and dropped their jaws with the likes of Shadow of the Colossus, I think we need the skippy specs for this one.

  • andrewsqual 20/04/2016

@SpaceMonkey77 Indeed? I don't think you read my comment. I in fact never even mentioned an extra accessory device made for specific games like the one that begins with K for 360. I wanted to leave that out since I was focusing mainly on the first half decade of the console.

The "PlayStation Eye" as it is called for PS3 is not really the same thing as an "optional" Wifi adapter that 95% of the console's audience needs to buy. Or should I say thinks that they need to buy anyway (wired 1 gigabit port in PS3 all the way I say) but I know from the amount of Wifi adapters we sold with each console how many people "needed" this thing. The same with the Play and Charge kit.

And Eyetoy is what it is called for PS2 and PS Camera is the one for PS4.

@cloudskipa I wouldn't consider somebody a real Xbox fan who jumped on the 360 bandwagon in late 2007 after Forza 2 came out. The people who went through the rougher times with the launch machine and the better times with the 360's predecessor, the original Xbox, those are called Xbox Fans.
In case you didn't get that, you are not the real 360 or Xbox Fan skippy.
