Very good. You know what, we shoukd go ahead and change the law. When a man commits a crime his wife should be sent to jail as well so it can be "further embedded in her brain" to choose a better man next time.
You know what, throw his friends in there as well. Those guys should have known better as well.

    @trentonavery

When someone commits a crime they are sent to jail. Just them. Not their families and friends. At least four families are victimised by the reckless actions of one man. There's no justice in that. Maulbeck stepped down. He can't just undo that without the general public spitting him out for good. The guy is done. That's punishment enough for misplaced words on twitter.

  • Darksjeik 22/10/2014

I think Valve should show good sportsmanship and accept Maulbeck's resignation as penance and grant the other people and their families who were involved in the creation of this game their well deserved payday. Put the game back up on Steam already. The impulsive actions of one man shouldn't drag down all those around him. They didn't contribute to the problem and are unjustly victimised. Reply 0

  • Valve pulls game from Steam following dev's tweet threatening Gabe Newell

  • Darksjeik 22/10/2014

It doesn't require an explanation why his tweets were way too harsh but let's be realistic here. We've all said stupid stuff out of genuine frustration at some point. None of us are perfect all the time. The guy freaked out and to a degree that's understandable. If you want to know more of what Indie devs go through watch the "Indie" documentary. Some of these guys literally lose everything when a game fails. To us it's just another title but to them it's their maker or breaker.

Plastering an early access banner over a finished product destroys at least 80% of it's revenue. So his anger and frustration are understandable. His means of uttering it not so much ofcourse.

Still I feel it would give Steam a human face if they accepted his apology. Steam isn't EA and this is a nice opportunity for them to showcase that imo

  • Darksjeik 17/10/2014

Playing the Xbox One version. Honestly can't say my experience and immersion are hindered by distracting issues. The game is so tense you don't even notice the black borders.
I think the fact this is a slower paced dark game makes a slightly lower framerate less noticable. Also the game has the same grain filter as Alien Isolation which naturally softens the image. This isn't a vibrant slick looking fast paced game like Forza Horizon where framerate issues would hurt the game far more.
Xbox One owners shouldn't be hesitant to get the game, it's really good!

Playing on Xbox One. Honestly haven't noticed any tearing but there's some mild stutter sometimes when entering new areas. Must be a loading issue.

Overall I haven't noticed any issues that have any influence on my immersion. It's a fun game, I highly recommend it no matter the system you're playing on.

The xbone is silent throughout. No matter what you throw at it the thing never leaves whispermode. You could argue the xbone is cheating because it has an external powerbrick and the gpu is slightly less powerful so there less heat build up inside the console but on the whole I personally apreciate the xbone hardware more than the PS4. PS4 is more powerful but the xbone hardware is more refined.

Listen guys, just to avoid any confusion here. When my PS4 is idle, it's quiet. When I browse the PSN store, it's quiet. Some indie games, it's quiet.

Playing BF4 or Destiny, the fan kicks in after a couple of minutes and it's VERY audible, whereas the Xbox One just stays whisper quiet no matter what you throw at it. I have weekly LAN sessions over at a friends house where a total of 8 PS4's are hooked up via wifi. EACH AND EVERY ONE of these consoles has the fan kick in at lift off speed after just a few minutes of Destiny, each and everyone of them. It's been discussed and everyone of us 8 people have that happen at home as well.

I also have one of these and it's not loud

PS4's are loud under load, they just are and unless you have some custom watercooled mofo of a PS4 under your tv, yours is loud as well. You know why? Because PS4's are loud, that's why.

Me and 7 other PS4 owning friends all have PS4's that have their fans kick into full gear under load. I highly doubt yours is different. Maybe it has to do with how we define noise.

It's kind of funny because in the previous gen the xbox had better specs but PS3 hardware was more polished and ran less hot. This time it's exactely the other way around. I'm really impressed with the xbox one hardware though. It's absolutely dead silent under load and stays cool no matter what.

I wish PS4 power would find it's way into the superior Xbox One build quality. That would be perfect.

I'm teasing ofcourse but there is a truth to my statement. I myself used to be a pretty passionate PC gamer having a library of over 100 steam titles. Truth is Things went south in my enjoyment of games once I got caught up in the whole performance race. I found myself benchmarking my games more than enjoying them. Pair that with issues with a lot of titles at launch. Dead Island, GTA IV, Sleeping Dogs to name just a few with gamebreaking issues. At some point I called it a day and went back to consoles. I can now honestly say I enjoy a 720p, 30ish fps Dead Rising 3 on xbox. For me leaving the masterrace meant a huge improvement in the fun I have playing games. To each his own ofcourse.

Ok thx for clearing that up and good luck finding your workarounds and usermade patchwork to get your game running on your PC. And when you finally get it to run on your do-it-yourself console, try not to spend too much time going OCD over framerates and actually enjoy your game.
Also just ignore the fact 60% of your gpu potential will go unused because devs can't optimize for a fixed platform. XXX

Read the article here on EG where the lead programmer whatshisface on the Metro remasters explains how roughly 60% of the average PC gpu's potential remains untapped because devs aren't optimizing for a FIXED platform. In other words. I dare anyone here to build a PC with xbox one or PS4 specs and run Metro at 1080p 60fps on high settings. Which is what the console version does.

Edit: Here's a few segments from that article:
Oles Shishkovstov: "But they are relatively well-balanced pieces of hardware that are well above what most people have right now, performance-wise. And let's not forget that programming close to the metal will usually mean that we can get 2x performance gain over the equivalent PC spec."

"I just upgraded my cpu and I'm running an Intel 8 core at 4.3ghz (so far) on 3ghz ddr4 with THREE titans and even I cant sustain a fully locked 60fps in 1080p."

The only two real function for triple sli Titans is benchmarking and bragging rights. Realistically that setup hurts gaming performance more often than it improves it. There's a good chance disabling two Titans will improve your experience.

  • Darksjeik 07/09/2014

"Dead Rising 3 testing this week has been a bit of a trial thanks to repeated crashes."

This right there is why I quit PC gaming. Looking for workarounds and usermods desperately trying to get things running is a very effective way of pulling you out of the gaming experience. Closing your curtains and slipping a disc in a console is so much more convenient I'll gladly take that 720p/30fps.

Worst high profile games I ever played are easily the Fable games . • Darksjeik 25/08/2014

There's a huge gaping hole in the market for an open world zombiegame with a seriously themed gripping singleplayer campain. Zombiegames today are either slapstick comedies or MMO's with horrible graphics where players are serial killing each other for loot and there's some zombies on the side. I mean seriously, look at the popularity of the Walking Dead tv show and the waves that initial dead island trailer made.
