This is ridiculous. Even fucking online shops are at it now - bought Rhythm Heaven and lo and behold it's got fingerprints on the box underneath the cheap cellophane wrap, the resolution of the booklet is dodgy and the Nintendo logo isn't gold - it's dark yellow - all classic signs of a fake. Oh and it looks like a US copy but in a clear Euro style box.

I've bought this and another one (Prof Layton 2) which is also fake for my ex-step daughter and I don't want it conking out for her in a few weeks/months.

That must've not been a reputable online shop then.

Some reputable shops have been done in the past when the fakers managed to get their stock into the wholesale chain.

I'd love to. Unfortunately I've forgotten the name, they never sent me an email when I ordered - it was by card, not Google checkout or Paypal - and searching for it again by Google Shopping no familiar name pops up. FUCK.

I am shocked that the game you bought from a shop so reputable you cant remember its name or find on google was a pirate.

Its a dark day for gamongs everywhere.

If something seems too good to be true, it usually is.

Still, at least you only dropped £15 for it. I paid £25 for Rhythm Tengkou Gold when it came out and was pissed off when I found out that it was shit. GBA version is a million times better and have superior tunes. I still find myself humming the shot-arrow-through-ghost song.

Sorry you mean I deliberately go after pirated things?

This is for my ex-step daughter not me anyway. And it's OCPD not OCD.

Rhythm Heaven (Paradise in Europe) for £11.23 and guaranteed genuine. Was £9.97 the last few days.

No no I mean I thought you were very particular about everything being pristine and brand new in its wrapper etc.. But like you said it wasn't for you, so fair enough.

I've got some dodgy DS carts from some ebay sellers before.

I just tell them to give me my money back, they tell me it must be a mistake - just send the game back and they'll refund me, I say I'm not paying to send the game back - give me my money back or I report you, and lo, they give me my money back and I have a game. I don't feel bad about this at all.

Um... I'm confused about one thing. How can you have an ex-step daughter? Unless she's buried in a ditch somewhere?

SG is quickly rising up the ranks of mentalist forumites.

Used to happen to me all the time on Ebay with GBA games - my fondest memory has to be getting a copy of Warioware Twisted on a normal sized cart, without any of the magical twisty turny stuff that was on the real, big cart version.

Aaaah, memories.

Nice that you still care about your step daughter even after you and your wife/partner broke up.
