Godzilla - 8/10. I liked that they showed some restraint & it's a fucking lovely looking film but... a little more of fatty throwing random creatures through cities wouldn't have gone amiss. Still a fuckload better than most big loud summer films end up being.

    My Darling Clementine - 9/10

The older and crankier I get, the more I like Westerns and the more I like Henry Fonda. Victor Mature's a little miscast as Doc Holliday (he's no Val Kilmer), but the tale is told in a far subtler manner than Tombstone, making this the definitive Wyatt Earp movie.

Or is there some semblance of pacing?
It's trying to be far more of a crime epic along the lines of Infernal Affairs or The Godfather. It is paced pretty well to be fair, there's always a completely mental action sequence not far away to break up the quieter moments.

They're quite nice though, if you like that sort of thing. Rosario Dawson remains fully bra'd
You'll have to suffer through Oliver Stone's Alexander for them. Or just google.

I like Costner's take on Wyatt Earp too. And Dennis Quaid is a fantastic Doc Holliday as well.

When I watched Lucy at the IMAX on Friday. It was packed. Just had a second viewing. Much better second time around. That screening was rammed. It's been a huge, unexpected global hit.

In Sin City 2 now. It's deserted.

The Resident Evil films. I'm one of the reasons they keep making them.

Captain America - The Winter Soldier - 7/10

Given that he's basically a roid head with a bin lid, i liked this far more than i thought i would. Big, loud, enjoyable, well made, disposable shite.

    Sin City 2
Not a bad film, it still oozes that trademark sexy film-noir style. There's only two main storylines this time round, with a minor third plotline. Out of them all, I preferred Joseph Gordon-Levitt's storyline.

Unfortunately, it's just not as good as the first film. The script wasn't as captivating, and the storylines were quite forgettable.

Still, it wasn't bad - just not a patch on the original.

    6.5/10

    @MrE26

You gave Godzilla an 8 and Cap 2 a 7(enjoyable/shite)?

I haven't seen either but everyone I've spoke to (even a couple who like EVERYTHING) said Godzilla is dirge and Cap is top drawer.

    Your opinion of course.

I only ask because i got round to watching cap 1 t'other night and thought it was pretty good so look forward to the sequel which is meant to be better.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes

Decent for the first half, complete dross for the last half.

Monkey's riding horses whilst dual-wielding machine guns? Seriously? I switched off at that point.

That and it being a 12 certificate with the F-bomb being dropped. Nice.

The apes were riding horses and shooting double barelled shotguns in the original film(s). I dont see how the machine guns are any different.

Apparently sin city 2 has flopped right on its arse, taking less than a third of what it was expected to in its first weekend.

    Inbetweeners 2

Loved the series, and the first film was great.

But the sequel is a bit of a letdown.
Story doesn't really get started until the last 5 mins, then just ends.
A few funny scenes, but the recurring jokes don't really work, and the dialogue is a bit of a letdown - feeling forced.

Still plenty of big laughs, so maybe I'll enjoy it more on the second watch, but I was expecting a lot more.

@waggy79 Depends what you like. I can see why people would be disappointed with Godzilla because it really holds back & Godzilla's in it for about 20 minutes. I enjoyed it though. My expectations were lowered because i'd heard it was a bit shit & i was pleasantly surprised.

Captain America 2 was just another Marvel film. Liked it a lot, but it's nothing i haven't seen many times before.

    Dumb & Dumber

For some reason, I have never seen this movie. Maybe it was because I hated the Ace Ventura movies, I did however like pretty much everything else with JC in.

If you are a fan of Jim Carrey's face doing interesting things then this is probably a 10. If you are a fan of deep storylines and life-changing revelations then you will probably be disappointed.

    I like his rubbery face.

I fucking love Dumb and Dumber.

Watched The Conjuring over the weekend, great stuff. It's all been said on here already, but it really is a well done horror that might tick all the clichés but is a damn sight better than stuff like Evil Dead remake. Feels like an old classic horror thanks to its setting too!

Dumb and Dumber is the best comedy film ever made. It is perfection.

Different type of comedy. Personally given the choice I would rather watch dumb and dumber but that's me.
