Excellent, now I've learned another swear word.

Cubby didn't know how to turn off sigs!

  • Deleted user 24 April 2014 07:36:53
I wonder how people that get offended by these things survive in the real world.

The three old fuckers that provide the "entertainment" offend me. Bring back Tiff and proper reviews.

The Stig >>>>> Tiff bloody Needell

Cubby didn't know how to turn off sigs!

Christ no. Don't bring Tiff back. He's the sort of person that needs a good slap.

Tiff doesn't do proper reviews. I like what he does, but it's still no use for the real world. If you watch Fifth Gear on Discovery you see that no matter what the car - hot hatch or supercar - he reviews it based on how it drives as a track racer. So the result is a car designed for going to the shops gets a bad rating because the suspension isn't stiff enough for the corners of whichever track Tiff is trying it out on. Reviewers like that are the reason so many cars have shitty comfort levels and are tested on the Ring.

Yeah, Needell is just a different flavour of cunt. There probably isn't a decent market for it but instead of the fake laddish cuntbaggery, I'd like to see a show with more of a focus on any new automotive engineering. Wouldn't really matter if it was a supercar or an eco-mobile.

Edit: that was supposed to be before Maturin's post. I'm not suggesting that Maturin thinks Needell is a cunt.

    @Maturin
    Fair enough :-)

I hark back to an age when you got one tiny black n white photo in Southern auto trader ;-) those were the days.

@grey_matters They tried that before. Know one watched it. Plus, Tiff is annoying as hell.

Tiff is often on Top Gear already, he often takes the roll of The Stig when the regular Stig can't be there.

Or he's the other driver when they need to drive several cars for a track sequence.

Is Tiff really the Stig sometimes?

Did a press thing for the Mario Kart release a few years back (the Wii version) and beat Tiff (who came third) in the real-life track event, going around a very short Brooklands circuit. Came second to Jodie Kidd. Tiff lost the back end on one of the corners by dipping a tyre on to the rough mud. Some prat from (I think it was) Stuff magazine completely lost it on one of the corners and nearly rolled it, and would have done had it not been for the instructor taking over control.

All my ego was then promptly stripped away however when I tried to do the ice-rink roundabout and very nearly wrote off a 80k Mercedes on my second rotation around. Very nearly soiled myself. Tiff was rather better at that. The bastard.

If he is, then the TL/DR version is I've beaten the Stig! I may get a t-shirt made.

    Very occasionally.

But he does do quite a bit of driving for TG not as the Stig.

Jeremy Clarkson has been accused of racism: http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/video-watch-jeremy-clarkson-use-3481201

Must be slow news day. I can't hear anything like the N word there...

Total non-story. They're just trying to ride the slope.
  • Deleted user 1 May 2014 12:49:37
If I was Clarkson I'd sue them. Didn't they try this crap on Frankie Boyle too or was that another vermin paper?

Well...I reckon he did say it...mumbled it..but it sounds like he did say it.

if it wasn't such a horrible claim to make this'd actually be funny, we could make a game of it, 'what he actually said was...'

He did actually mumble it, that's blatantly obvious, but, like me, it's a rhyme you were brought up with at the time and when you go, "How do I choose between these things..." it's an automatic response to fall back on it. Like Clarkson, when I get to that point nowadays you have that moment of "WTF? Was I really about to say that?"

He obviously realised it, the production team also realised it and knew that that shot couldn't be used, so they had to come up with an alternative take. In reality, The Moro.. sorry, The Mirror should be commending them for realising it and making sure the alternative take was shot, but then that wouldn't make for much of a story, would it.

I can also hear a mumbling of it, almost humming it. He certainly didn't say it clearly though.

Just looked up the link again, how many stories are they running about it on the website, now??? Talk about making a mountain out of a molehill!

I do, however, like how their improptu poll is going drastically against them, though, although their headline once it's closed will probably be "1 in 4 Believe Clarkson Should be Sacked!"

I did like James May's tweet, though:

Jeremy Clarkson is not a racist. He is a monumental bellend and many other things, but not a racist. I wouldn't work with one. #ThatIsAll

It's fairly clear that he did say it.

Whether that constitutes "racism" is another question. I doubt actual racial hatred was the reason why he mumbled through an old childhood rhyme (that just happens to be a bit racist, but nobody realised at the time).
  • Deleted user 1 May 2014 13:21:44
I don't believe he said it, but I do wonder who actually gets offended by this sort of crap anyway if I'm honest. If someone did, they must live very, VERY sheltered lives.

Black people? People who don't feel comfortable when someone mumbles something a bit racist?
  • Deleted user 1 May 2014 13:31:17
It's just a word. You also give the word power by forbidding it. I'm sure you can think of plenty more to hit them back with.
