They are brilliant reviews. He's getting a bit on the "must whine" side though. It would be nice to see him tackle another of his old time favourites.

Best use of videoreview I can think of.

If you can read this you really need to fiddle with your forum settings.

I had to stop the video twice this week while I stopped laughing. Everyone in the office thinks I've finally cracked. :-D

He's like the hyperactive offspring of Charlie Brooker and Mr Biffo (when he was good) that never was.

He should be made to review every game released. At gunpoint if need be.

I loved the tiny dig at the start at SH5, its the cherry on that fantastic review.

Awesome stuff, though I think portal could have done with an extra hour or two.

Tbf, on the PC there are bound to be some community maps that will be outstanding.

I think a lot of the success of Portal is down to its atmosphere and the progression through the levels with GLaDoS. Take that away, and I'm not sure I'm all that interested in just playing some random linked puzzles.

Good game, though. And an excellent Zero Punctuation review as always. :)

Well yeah, but the great thing is, the puzzle system is really excellent, so if you liked the game for the puzzles as well, community amde maps will just make it all the better. I certainly isn't going to harm it is it?

And I never suggested that it would, did I?

I played for the game as an experience - the notion of going back for some arbitrary and unconnected puzzles doesn't sound like something I'd have fun with. Me. Personally.

I'm sure a great community will build up around it, but the thing is (having listened to the developer commentary) they went through dozens of revisions of each map, lots of playtesting, lots of focussed groups. And what they ended up with was a work of genius.

Turning that into a straight up puzzle game kinda defeats the object for me, and I'd be surprised if it touches the base package for quality.

Hope you enjoy the extra community levels, though - it's the great thing about the PC as a platform. Lots of extra content there if you want it.

Yay, he's a Jonathan Coulton fan... and I didn't know there was a JoCo song in Portal. Damn, I have to get round to buying it now.

I find myself moderately aggrieved that Zero Punctuation doesn't have its own RSS feed. I don't really want to be force-bundled all that toss-boring Escapist shite as well.

Excellent reviewing and damn funny. I just wish he didn't feel obliged to crack those cheap little special-needs jokes e.g. Psychonauts, LucasArts, Downs Syndrome.

Actually. I wonder how this makes 78.7 % of reviewers feel. He completely upends the tea table and makes them look redundant.

(of course that is what the remaining 20 odd pwercent do anyway)

    My post has become insignificant

    Heh heh - aces!

To be honest, I can see why someone who doesn't like RPGs would like Super Paper Mario. 'cos it's rubbish. :-)
