Is that the IM thing on Facebook? It's absolutely killed MSN stone dead as far as I'm concerned.

    Yeah.

This feature tells you if a person has read your message and when. Pointless and slightly aggravating when you see that someone has read your message but not replied to it (immediately at least).

Not great if you're the sort of person who can get paranoid over these sort of things.

Some phones have that 'feature' as well, where it tells you if someone's read a text you sent them or not. Quite a bizarre thing.

Isn't that just a read receipt?

Give yourself 5 or gig, you're worth it.

I saw the thing I'm talking about on a TV ad. They were making it out to be its USP. It put something like a green tick next to a text message once the other person had read it.

Having a had 'a quick Google', I'm guessing it functions in much the same way as a read receipt.

Thought that was just a "Message received" thing? Not actually read? (On phones.)

Least that's what I thought it was? Is on What's App at least.

It's an optional setting for SMS.

The seen thing is because they're now trying to compete with Whatsapp and Line for phone to phone messaging.

Possibly the sad fact that # has infected everyday language.

You can link your Facebook account to Twitter so when you post on Twitter, it goes on your Facebook page. Maybe that's why they are doing it.

The annoying thing people are doing now is liking pictures which have a title such as 'like in 3 seconds if you remember this' or 'like this pictur of true friendship'. It's spamming up my timeline and I'm missing out on what my mates had for breakfast.

Well there is that, but those services usually have a small thingy under the status saying posted via such and such. But this is updates posted straight into facebook, so I reckon it's more RedSparrows explanation... so kids are saying to eachother "My mum won't give me any money for a set of Beats #mumisabitch", the fuck?

    Doing that hash thing?- #lowestformofwit

It is awful, even ironically. I'd argue linking your Twitter account is possibly even worse though. There's a reason I'm not following people on Twitter. I don't want to see it on Facebook either.

I was asked about twitter in a job interview recently. Had to avoid ranting about it.

Hard to put up with close friends or family members that keep posting inane shit.
You tube videos, those "inspirational" pictures("The only person you can trust is yourself."), YouTube video after YouTube video after YouTube video, depressing as fuck posts from a depressing as fuck person saying the same depressing fucking thing all the depressing fucking time, using that shuffle thing to say goodnight 5 fucking times, and still be on an hour after, people ranting how much they're suffering, having a hard time, blah blah blah and follow up with "I don't want to talk about it.", why fucking post it then? Fuck off and die in a hole.

And 'checking in' can fuck off as well.

This digital generation, so called 'social' something or other, is probably the most anti-social thing I've ever seen.

I'm starting to think that technological democracy is a bad thing. Once tards get hold of tech things start to go wrong.

On to the next digital utopia.

Not sure it's fake moral outrage, more a side effect of serious mental issues.
