GTA IV's dialogues are pretty good, I thought. The storyarc all in all isn't that stellar, but the cutscenes and conversations in the car are very, very well written, and are often balanced well between parody and seriousness. Agreed on Planescape - is almost a Godwin argument. But then what I remember more from PS:T are the descriptions rather than the dialogue.

As far as Fallout 3 is concerned, well, it's not even the same sport.

Too much combat in Dead Space as well.

Dead Space is about the combat though and it doesn't try to hide it. But the atmosphere is absoltuley spot on in the game.

It's all about the dialogue for me. The way that almost every philosophy on death is present in the game is fascinating. Aside from the regret and accountability, death is obviously the biggest factor in the game. I've not read a book or see a film that has covered the topic of dying so relentlessly well. It's a fantastic interpretation and fusion through fiction of every religious and philosophical view on mortality. Mostly though, there are no heroes. No world to be saved. Just reflection on the self.

Vampire Bloodlines : The Masquerade had excellent dialog and writing in it. It's right up there with my favourite games. It's just a shame it was a buggy piece of crap and Troika imploded :(

The latest fan patch is an astounding labour of love and fixes most of the game's issues \0/

Excuse my ignorance here. But just because the two games were made by the same dev house, why are they always compared? Are they 'that' close in terms of style and execution?

    (serious question, hasn't played SS2)

Have you ever heard of google blizeH? All i see you post here is a long series of questions.

I get the impression that at the end of these long Q&A sessions you often tend to disregard the object of your original enquiry anyway.

No joke, blizeH, but if you don't like this game I will actively campaign to have you and any sock you ever create banned from this and all forums on the internet. I'm deadly serious. I know people. Powerful people. You have been warned.

You have an opportunity to elevate yourself in my eyes, though, by not only liking it but also stating that it's superior in every way that matters to Bioshock.

The graphics aside which were poor even by the standards of the time, SS2, flaws and all, richly deserves to be held up as a classic and a piece of gaming history. No game since has ever managed to match its atmosphere.
