The Rare/MS/Nintendo thing is weird though.

United against a mutual enemy? Embrace / Extend / Exterminate?

    Quite interesting.

Sounds interesting. And will probably feel strange like F-Zero GX did back then when you turned it on you saw the Nintendo and the SEGA logo right after each other.

Could look funny too if there was the Microsoft Gaming Studios movie playing when you start playing Viva Pinata although I doubt MS will handle the publishing.

Confirmation that MS isn't releasing a handheld pretty much. Thank god. =)

I know a lot of people who got addicted to VP on the Xbox. If they do release it for DS, I'll definitely be getting it :)

I loved it on the 360 but then other games acame along and sucked me away from it. Shame, I put in a sold 4 or 5 days on it but it got the point where my garden was 'full' although there wasn't that much in it, and to get more animals you had to do some serious reorganising and culling of your food chain. It was a real hassle and I gave up. :(

I love Viva Pinata. Seems a no-brainer for touch-screen controls. Still, it's quite a weird pairing...

    Look up two posts.

I was being sarcastic in the post that you quoted.

I've got a vaaaast amount of free time coming up. I may have to reimmerse myself in my garden and see if I can't make some sense of the chaos it's descended into. :)

Don't be afraid to start new gardens for different groups or chains of animals. Having them all in the same garden just clogs things up and leads to fences, which are buggy as well as being cumbersome to deploy.
  • Deleted user 30 July 2007 12:14:04
Does starting new gardens mean you have to start totally from scratch, or do they sort of co-exist to the degree that you can send yourself animals or resources you need from your other gardens, just as you can send such things to other players via Live, and that all the stuff you need is already unlocked?

    Coz that would be cool.

Your level stays the same and you keep all your money. In fact I once sold everything I had and had a load of cash to start a new garden, made it a lot easier. After a while though it's really almost impossible to keep all the animals in one garden because they tend to attack each other and once that happens you have fights everywhere, all the pinatas get sad and it's pretty difficult to get things going again. You can seperate them with fences but if they feel prisoned they get sad too.

And they definitely feel imprisoned when they get physically stuck in the fences due to bugs, which WILL happen to you.
  • Deleted user 30 July 2007 12:41:43
Yeah, fencing off, even in the 'large' (haha) garden, always seemed like a dead loss. Too small to do it properly and all the animals then have difficulty getting anywhere and also it locks them out of the ecosystem, thereby collapsing the balanced state of affairs that usually exists.

I never really put much faith in any kind of ecosystem, let alone balance, existing in VP. Few animals turn up of their own accord without your explicit input, and none actually breed without your help. So you have to work to keep the system going if you need it to. Otherwise the losers die out and everything settles down and that's that. That's my experience anyway.
  • Deleted user 30 July 2007 12:53:37
    So anyway, DS VP, eh?

Wow, MS are really a lot more open minded on this whole thing than I thought they'd be.
I mean releasing a port of an old game is one thing, but here they've got to commit some development muscle or risk denting the goodwill towards VP.

Also, I hope it really is a park manager like VP because that would be awesome on the go.

Yay! I wanted to play this, but I didn't want to play it to the tune of buying a 360.

That wasn't strange, that was the sweetest sense of victory I've ever felt. It was like England won the world cup or something. :))
