    I've just started using the rower instead of running (too fucking cold!) and im finding intervals works best : 5 minutes going like fuck, 2 minute cooldown, then another 5 minutes going as fast as i can.

    Absolutely kills me, feels more beneficial then running too somehow....

    I actually got it on affordable supplements, it was 77 for two tubs which should last me at least two months.

    hmmmm hang on... I'VE BEEN RIPPED OFF!!!!

    What cardio exercise do you recommend that doesn't use your glutes or upper body?

    Pretty sure cycling uses your glutes. I've definitely had a sore arse after cycling at least.

    77 for two months worth of protein? I'm a frequent gym-goer, but to me that seems an insane amount of money to drop on a supplement to exercise.

    I'm curious: does it really make a genuine difference in your health to justify it?

    Yeah I think sore arses from cycling are due to the sitting, not using your glutes.

    I die after 10 mins on the bike but that only burns 74 calories apparently!

    Cycling pain in the rear tends to be caused by an ill-fitting saddle. What works for one won't necessarily be right for you and it's all about where your sit bones connect with the saddle. Experimenting with different types and sizes usually solves the problem.

    I've never been able to find a saddle that didn't give me acute pain the next day. I have to wear shorts with tons of padding and a very thick gel cover over the seat to not find myself spending the next day waddling like a seal with a syndrome.

    It's not just protein, its got my daily dose of vitamins and some creatine in there. My normal stuff is about 35 for a tub that has lasted for ages, i just thought i'd try something new especially in January when i will switch around my routine as i do every 6 months

    As to whether it makes a difference or not, dunno, i haven't got any hard evidence that it does or that it doesnt. You can defiintely get all the nutrients you need in a natural manner, i just choose the supplements route.

    But to put it into perspective, say i trained 3 times a week, and had a protein shake at the gym after each session for 2.30, over 2 months that would be 55.2, whereas this actually has more other stuff in it, less calories from things i dont want calories from like sugars, and is 77 for essentially 4.6months of post gym shake

    My one is all out POWAH for 10 minutes.

    Then I sweat like a nun in a brothel.

    All POWAH for 10 minutes that burns 40 calories less than I do in the same time. That's some of that weird POWAH low intensity training eh :-P

    Watching the Stephen Fry documentary about (gimmicky) gadgets to make exercising in the gym more enjoyable earlier got me thinking...

    Taking some LSD or mushhrooms and hallucinating like a bitch in the gym would make those treadmill jogs or gleken's 800 exercise bike calories a breeze! You could be on the mill for 6 hours and it would feel like 6 seconds or the best journey in your life!

    There has got to be people who actually do this.

    Well, you could argue that lots of the exercise nuts are getting off on endorphins, and people would vary in their sensitivity and how they brain are wired wrt reward/dopamine/whatever, so maybe some people don't even need drugs.

    Aren't endorphins are only released when you're doing extreme balls-to-the-wall exercise, thus negating the pain response & enabling you to keep going?

    Jogging or peddling a leisurely pace is very boring especially in the gym on machines - but necessary if you're to believe that 65% heart rate = fat burning zone. Hallucinating on mushrooms would definitely help out i'm too inhibited to try it though unfortunately.

    Ahh first gym trip in 10 days. Feels good. Also not having eaten shit for 3 days also feels good.

    Surprising amount of willpower going on given the number of chocolates in the fridge!!

    I haven't been for 8 days now. I feel like a fucking blimp. I've lost weight...but that has to be muscle mass as I've been eating shit loads.

    not neccesarily. if you have been eating you will retain the muscle mass and you would need a lot longer than eight days off to lose muscle. obv the 'pump' feeling will go which may be more of a mental thing.

    i found that after going heavily for eight months. taking two weeks off i actually lost fat and increased muscle size. partly due to good diet but the body does respond to a rest as much as the gym sometimes
