It'll be all aimed at the Wii Wheel market if the franchise was ever revisited on Wii.

SPAM is right. It will never surpass GX.

Ok Nintendo seriously...release F-Zero (only if it's as awesome and difficult as GX and not some dumbed down piece of shit) on the Wii and i'll buy another Wii.

I hope you don't mean story mode difficult cause that was a nightmare, the rest of GX was class mind.

It was difficult so I gave up on about the 3rd level never to play again.

I couldn't even beat the first story mission on normal.

Ahh I hate it when threads like this are bumped and I get momentary false hope. :(

f zero would be ruined on wii

nintendo would make it a "casual" version AKA utter crap
  • Deleted user 25 April 2010 02:22:23
Well they could add Super Guide Autopilot to it and keep it like it is.

You're not alone, I could only beat the first two. But who played GX for the story mode anyway?

GX was one of those rarities that I was actually pretty bad at playing but still enjoyed tremendously. Well, actually I managed to beat a few of the staff ghost times, but I was no use in Story. I think the motion controls could actually do wonders too, which is why it's a shame there still hasn't been any word on this.

I finished all of the Story missions on Hard, and most of them on Very Hard too. Oddly enough I was crap at the traditional racing modes in the game.

Didn't it unlock more vehicles? If I remember correctly you only started with about four.

Hell even a 'Pikmin' style re-release with optional controls in Excitetruck style would be brilliant.

This is the one game for Wii I really want to appear...

Nah, I'm sure you could just buy 'em straight out of the shop. I think the story mode gave you more parts for your custom ships. I was another person who was absolutely shite at those missions and gave up pretty early on.

Did anybody here actually ever have the chance to play the arcade F-Zero AX and grab the bonus bits from that game (via GC mem card) and bring them home? I'm sure there was a way to get those unlockables with just the GX game but I can't remember.

I think you had to complete the story mode chapters on the hardest difficulty to unlock the AX stuff.

I was lucky enough to be living in Japan when F-Zero AX was released so I could get all the tracks and ships downloaded onto my memory card.

The only downside is that even though I can play my old JPN GC games on my homebrew Wii, the Japanese version of GX doesn't work correctly... Damn I loved that game!

Oh and I had a go on GX the other day for the first time in years and got absolutely brutalised. Which is a shame, because I can immediately sink into any Wipeout game when I feel like it, but I guess that's a combination of easier AI and the tactics and methods of it being more ingrain for me.

Ahh I remember when I was heavily into this. :-( Fire Field and Cosmo Terminal FTW!

I played this not long ago and what struck me most (apart from how fucking great it is), is just how smoothly it runs - even with 30 vehicles on screen at full whack, it's still smooth as silk. Yet to see anything on current consoles that can do that.

It's still marvelous, isn't it. Tbh honest, I'd be happy if they just rereleased GX for the wii with full online and track editor. Oh, and maybe drop the story mode 'cos it was far too hard.

Last gen, the consoles (especially the GC and xbox) were absolute powerhouses. It's why this gen they've needed to push HD, cos they couldn't get much better SD than that. They've added extra shaders and wotnot this gen, so they can still do things the previous gen couldn't, even on SD, but they're clearly not quite up to doing what the last gen did in SD in HD. Roll on next gen.

Cubby didn't know how to turn off sigs!

    @Mal

    I agree somewhat.

The graphics don't always strike me as being the main difference. However, I think this gen has given us a significant bump in physics, the sheer number of objects on screen at once and more convincing open worlds.

Sometimes, the physics going on in Bad Comapany, for instance, are incredible. And, in terms of open space, Oblivion and Fallout 3 still impress me. I don't count them as sandbox in the GTA sense. As large as GTA games are, and were on the last gen, the open spaces don't feel like living worlds. Pedestrians are randomly generated and all the building are empty facades. You never get that sense that the game, to some degree, really continues when you're looking the other way.

Maybe we've just got used to a new generation meaning a paradigm shift in graphics but forget that it's often other factors that contribute to our sense of immersion.

That sounds like an amazing idea. Never crossed my mind before but a 3D version of F-Zero, especially if it could at least approxminate the graphics in the gamecube version, would definitely get me to pick up a 3DS.
