Saw this last night. what a pile of shit. Now i'm no harry potter fan - but fuck all happened in this film - it was just talking and deus ex machina situations all the way through and then a lame fight at the end where the main villain runs off when HE CAN BLATANTLY KILL POTTER WHILE HE LIES ON THE FLOOR!?!
JK Rowling is a shitty story teller, don't understand the great interest whatsoever - is this really what kids are into nowadays (apart from drugs and underage drinking?).

I'd rather my child sat infront of the TV watching loan adverts than watched a harry potter movie.

    (/baits deem a bit more)

    Here's my review:

Overall, I liked it. The story moved along quickly, and, while there was heavy pruning (neccesary from an 850+ page book), the main important bits got left in. But, you know, if I wanted it just like the book, I'd go read the book.

    Main strengths:
I really enjoyed the special effects. Tonks and Luna Lovegood were great actors as well, and they made a great addition to the movie. It was Umbridge, however, who really made it memorable. The actress playing her was perfect for the part.

    Main weaknesses:
Well, there was heavy pruning, as I said. Also, I found myself thinking, at at least one point in the movie, that Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson aren't really the brilliant actors they're made out to be. Rupert Grint (Ron) really holds up their little triangle at times. A great actor uses facial expressions as much as, if not more than, the rest of their body. Radcliffe doesn't seem to have learned how to do that.

Final score: 8/10 (better than Halo)

i haven't made my point irrelavant, i saw the film - it was shit - i haven't contradicted myself in anyway.

Some of the effects were good, but it was like they had to hold back all the big stuff for the end so fuck all happened for two hours while they saved their budget.

Can someone answer what the fuck that door thing was that you know who fell into?

Seeing grown men run about with sticks flailing about was something i found very funny wen it was meant to be dramatic and stuff lol.

I would suggest it was the fact that you said you'd seen the other films and didn't like them, and you only saw it 'cos it was free that means a lot of people won't value your opinion particularly highly.
It would be a bit like me saying that Halo is shit. And then mentioning that I don't like any FPS games and only play them 'cos I got them free.

Not as nice as I used to be

JK Rowling is a shitty story teller...

    that point there idiot:

    1) though you're of course entitled to your own opinion, millions of adults and children all over the world completely disagree with you
    2) its the 5th installment of 7, at least one of the installments was going to be a plot building one and not an all out action installment, so taken in to context with the rest of the serious I'm sure it will fit in nicely
    3) the book is huge and the majority of reviews seem to accept that the most important parts of the book are intact so again, saying that JK Rowling is a shit story teller based on a film thats a cut down version of her book thats had some creative license is idiotic

edit - buggered up my quote tags grrr - idiot

You have got to be fucking kidding me? That little ginger bastard drives me nuts with his facial crap.

"Now I am scared." /knocks knees, grimaces.

"Now I am happy." /beams like special child

"Now I am puzzled." / sticks out bottom lip, furrows brow, scratches head.

He's the worst actor I've ever had the misfortune of watching.

    deus ex machina situations
I thought that when I watched the earlier films. I thought it was maybe because of cutting the books down for film so I read one of the books.

Nope, it seems to be an integral part of the books too.

Still I find the films a relaxing enough way to pass an hour or two.

You cannot stop me with paramecium alone!

anyone who uses ghost from the machine story telling devices is shit. a few times then yeah i'll let you off, but several times every film - get bent.
Millions would disagree with me, but millions would fucking agree as well.

So what if i saw the film for free, i see all my films for free, it doesn't make me more or less likely to like something, it means i get to watch things i wouldn't otherwiseand give things a chance rather than not watch them and say its shit.

So it's like saying i got halo for free, im not a fan of fps but i tried it anyway to see what all the fuss was about.

@sickpuppy yeah like in azkahban where they get to a point where they're fucked. Oh, guess what - hermionne has been learning time travel secretly so we can go back in time - whoo! why not just do that in every fucking film/book then!?!

To be fair, it was fairly obvious Hermione had been using time travel all along. Well, at least, you know, if you read the book.

Slamming the Potter movies without having read and at least liked the books does not lend a great deal of wight to your opinion of them, to be sure.

Yeah, like Khab says, this is actually foreshadowed fairly solidly in the book and convincing enough (arguably, at least they are if you're getting into the spirit of things) arguments are made for why it isn't always used.

Where do you work to get to see the films for free, Scurrm?

Saw the film tonight, enjoyed it quite a bit, although it always puzzles me when arbitrary changes are made to scenes from the book. Cutting stuff out because there's too much incidental detail in the book is fine, but stuff like giving lines to different characters in Lord of the Rings, or substituting the big marsh/bog thing for a firework display in this film is just weird.

Heh, what? Who ever said that? Daniel Radcliffe has been my main problem with the films all along.

He's good looking though, which makes up for the hammy acting.

He's got himself in pretty decent shape, to be fair.

Emma Watson makes me laugh hard with the comedy eyebrow action every time she's trying to play it 'serious'. But then again, she just makes me hard.

edit: wait, how do I change the timestamp to make this look like it was posted after the next film?
