I hear test drive unlimited is good.

    Psychonauts
    GTA III (all of them)
F.E.A.R (pretty much any single player shooter is possible)

The GTAs work well with pads, as do games like Max Payne and all racing titles of course (NFS, Test Drive 2). If you like a bit of retro, an N64 emulator would be fun too.

Don't forget that a coffee table (or some kind of board on your lap) is very mouse/keyboard friendly too.

GTA is perfectly playable with a pad

As for the FPS, I never said it was any good :D From the eye candy perspective only with that one.

    Tomb Raider: Legends

Test Drive: Unlimited (great, great game)

    GTR2, GT: Legends

    Psychonauts

Most 360 ports work out of the box with the 360 pad.

Fair enough, just read the OP (kinda getting the whole internet discussion thing a bit mixed up!) so I guess that GTA is an option.

Better thing to do is to get a bit of wooden board and use it as some kind of flat-lap thing. Then you can play the games like a real man!

i did wonder about first-person shooters but i'm born and bred on mouse and keyboard, anything else seems wrong. also, obviously made for console shooters are optimised for joypad, would pc shooters in joypad mode have the same optimisation ? ? ? anyone tried it?

might have to try outrun and test drive, they'd look plenty sweet i reckon.

carlo, sorry your idea of eyecandy is slightly at odds with mine. cheers tho :-o

Iirc, that doesn't support pads (unless you use third-party software), as ridiculous as it sounds. Worked well with kb/m though.

PoP:SoT if you haven't played it. Will run at very high res with smooth framerates on a toaster, but still looks lovely and a pad is the only way to play it.

Resident Evil 4 on PC is perfect with the pad, since it doesn't support the mouse at all.

Shame about the port tho :(

Give it a try if you cant get it on PS2 or GC/Wii.

they fixed RE4 mostly with the patch now,

I dont know why ppl were whining about how they couldn't use a mouse for it. It was designed for a joypad.

Pointless headshot fest takes out all the tension in that game

TOCA Race Driver 3 is brilliant on a 40" tv with a joypad. It looks great and you can pick it up pretty cheap these days.

They should have somehow redesigned it then, it's not like most PC games are head shot fests. And what about the Wii version, anyway?

Or are you saying the game drew all its tension out of the crappyness of pads for aiming? :p

    spider-man 3!

    ...

ok, an unpopular choice, though i'm quite enjoying it. i preferred the last two splinter cells with a joypad, because the analog stick is just a much more natural way to control your movement speed. actually i tend to prefer a pad for 3rd-person games in general: rogue trooper (underrated)
    hitman
    resident evil 4 deserves repeating
devil may cry 3 (although this was a pain and needs 3rd-party drivers)

+when this comes out, i'll never touch a keyboard again: http://www.buyreflex.com/Index.aspx

No but then in most pc games the enemies dont shamble up to you in mass ranks at one mile per hour, at least I cant remember one where they did that.

'All' is a exaggeration, but alot of the tension for me was down to slow aiming with the analog stick yea, and the fact you cant instantly spin to face any direction in 0.1 of a second like you can with a mouse. So you rely on the noises to tell you whats around- thus the atmosphere draws you in.

Same when I played it on the gamecube. Cant comment on Wii controller I've never used one

    Trackmania United / Nations
Test Drive Unlimited (although a wheel setup is better obviously)
    Pro Evo Series
    Psychonauts
    Emulators (blush)

But my biggest recommendation is that you setup a front end such as GameEX, which ties everything together nicely and allows you to browse and select games (along with loads of other stuff) without using your mouse.
