Bizzare move for Holloway. I guess he's been promised money from Zaha going Jan.

So Appleton was a bit of a strange choice for Blackpool.

    I don't think it's that strange.

    Les Dennis would've been strange.

Well Appleton has only won 13 more league games than Les Dennis.

He seems quite happy about his new job anyway:

To be fair, Les Dennis has had more footballing resources available to him over the last two years than Appleton has had to endure at Pompey.

Who knows if he'll be any good. This is his first 'proper' job really as the car crash at Portsmouth can't really count against him.

If you consider the absolute shambles that is Portsmouth FC, he's worked miracles. Got them playing nice stuff as well. Probably the best team I've seen at Bramall Lane this season so far.

Dave Jones(Sheff Wed manager) was a right muppet last night. Blethering on about offsides costing his team when our second goal was actually onside and his sides' equaliser actually offside. Don't know where he gets this notion of Boro' being "gone" after they equalised. Certainly saw the game differently to me.

1 down, man sent off just before half time, three subs to change the system. Predictably, player gets a broken leg two minutes into the second half. 9 men. Aces.

Lol, Thats fucked up is what that is. Rudy injured too! How many signings are we gonna need to make to avoid a relegation battle?

York were total garbage today, not seen them play that badly for 5 years. Lost 3-0 at home, could have been much worse. Magnified by the fact we'd had two below average home performances in the last week.

Still, I work in Leeds, plenty of scope for fun on Monday morning.

Same shit as ever. If we get to the end of January without spending anything we can expect to be stuck in a scary relegation battle come April.

    :(

A strange game. The only winning move is not to play.

Takeover actually appears to have happened. Hasn't quite sunk in yet. Bates staying on though :(

    No money anyway have they?

Having been through a takeover full of false promises 12 years ago, be careful what you wish for. We've only just got back to where we were.

Aren't these guys skint? I'm sure I read that somewhere?

It depends what you read! GFH and or GFHc have been accused from several people supposedly "ITK" of not having a pot to piss in, which would be strange considering that they have supposedly just spent 50 mill on a football club?

Also, Bates was quoted earlier on today as saying that GFHc are backed by a "very wealthy bahraini".

SO, yeah - as I said, Cautiously optimistic at this time! The real test will be if we can get any decent loanees in by the end of play tomorrow. God knows we need a few!

It's all confusing. It seems GFH, a Dubai based group, is skint, has no money, can't afford to do anything. GFH Capital, a related but seperate company in Bahrain is the one buying the club. I'm still cautious, a lot is still unclear, and given how much the opacity of the club in the last 8 years has cost us, I'm not getting too overjoyed just yet. Ultimately though, the active fanbase has now dwindled to the point where nobody could hope to make a profit without getting success and a promotion, which is the sole reason Bates has sold now; he doesn't have the money to get us up and the fans have spoken with their wallets that they're not prepared to fund him. It's not in GFHC's interests to not push for success on the pitch. That said, I'll wait to see what happens in the January window before I get my hopes up.

Meh. Football is shit. Still, halfway through the season, 16th and four points off the playoffs. This league is broken.

Can only think they've got someone already in mind as Driscoll was the new owners appointment.

    5 points clear :D.
