Just finished it right now. Watched the last two episodes together and I have to be honest at the very end I was feeling pretty damn weepy :(

Brilliant series, one of the best. And it looks absolutely stunning (blu-ray).

I think The Pacific starts on HBO tomorrow night, or possibly next Sunday in the US.

Kewl. Tempted to sub to Sky Movies rather than sit in front of the computer... is it possible to add the channel for just a few months?

We got Sky Movies for free by threatening to leave \o/

Sounds awesome but it's potentially embarrassing if they don't try to barter with you and your run away with your tail between your legs shouting, "No, I actually want to stay, I've changed my mind!".

Half way through this series and it's great. Thought I'd watch them all before moving onto The Pacific, which is already being queued up on the V+.

i'm just over halfway through, watching on blu-ray. i rarely watch television so am really pleased i picked this dvd up. it's possibly the greatest thing i've ever watched. my friend said pacific is not nearly as good though.

what other shows are there of a similar quality? i like the idea of tv mini-series. i noticed rome on blu-ray was a joint production between hbo and bbc, much like band of brothers. hopefully that's a sign of quality.

You might like Generation Kill. It's nothing like BoB, but it's an excellent miniseries all the same.

Entirely different, but still war , Ross Kemp's two Afghanistan series are also excellent.

Don't forget The Pacific, which was made by the same crew as BoB.

I didn't think it was as good, but still quality stuff.

The Pacific was way more harrowing in drilling in how much of an impersonal machine industrial war is. BoB was the better show though imo.

The Pacific is good but it's not even close to B of B's brilliance in my opinion.
  • Deleted user 1 March 2012 20:22:14
Cool, wasn't expecting it to be really

It's amazing how many big actors of today were in this, James Mcavoy, Micheal Fassbender, Tom Hardy, Damien Lewis etc.

I cried that the Germans didn't win. Bloody world picking on them. All they wanted was Lebensraum.
