@Short-Round - nope. The controller's definitely #1. I did try switching it to #2 to see if that solved it, but it didn't...

The only thing I didn't try was switching the PS3 off/on again.

Does anyone know if you can still get the free 3 months with a 12 month PS+ sub if I redeem a year sub CODE instead of buying it from the PS Store ?? Cheers in advance.

@TheBlackDog - the info I've seen on the PS Blog suggests that you have to buy it from the PS Store to get the extra 3-months free.

    Odd issue last night:

Loaded up NFS Shift 2, but as soon as I got to the menu screen the game essentially ignored the controller. The PS button still worked, allowing me to get back to the OS, but I couldn't select anything to progress in the game itself. The same thing happened when I switched controllers, and the other 2 games I played were fine...

It only seems to happen with the one game, and I've played it previously (over the weekend, in fact) with no issues. Any ideas?

Update - played the game again this evening ... And it worked fine. No issues whatsoever. How odd.

Does anyone now of a good site that sells PSN cards? Preferably at a discount but that's not an issue. The couple i've found look dodgy.

I'm interested in buying the 60GB PS3 model to also play PS2 games. Any advice whether it's a good idea to buy one, despite it being the most prone to get YLOD?

    @FrostPan - I think they're all equally risky and I wouldn't bother just to play PS2 games.

You'd be better off getting a PS2 Slim and a PS3 Slim - at least they'd be reliable.

    What the airborne porcine said.

Too risky to by a 60gb, unless you know its from a good home and that it hasn't been absolutely caned.

My PS3 slim 160gb died last night (powers up for a second then turns itself off with no standby light) after 16 months. Anyone know where I stand warranty wise? A quick google makes it look like a fairly common problem with the slim (power supply issue) but Sony have said no free repair and only offered me a 110 refurb console with 3 months warranty. I really don't want to buy a new PS3 when I'm already planning on dropping 350 on a PS4 come November :(

    For the emperor!

Is there a problem with PSN this morning? It says system update is required but gives me error message if I try and update, otherwise the PS3 is connected to the internet, browser works.

Does anyone know why PS3 still doesn't offer the NHL Game Center? They've only had the entire off season to sort it out after all...

    Random trophy question here.

Although I have fulfilled the criteria for the Master and Defender trophy in Mass Effect 3, it won't pop, and obviously that means the plat won't pop either.

So my question is, excluding the obvious option of being a man and sucking it up, what can I do? E-mail Sony? Or Bioware? Is there anything that can be done about a glitched trophy?

Quick question - not a major issue, more a mild annoyance. I can no longer sync trophies to the server and whenever I try I get the error code 80710736. Everything else seems to be working normally.

Anyone else had this or knows of a way round it? It's been doing it for a day or two. Thanks

If you're using wi-fi try connecting by cable.

Re-try the trophy sync multiple times.

Its seems to be something that comes and goes according to the internet.

@X201 Not really sure what it was to be honest, I rebooted the router and they synced straight away! Thanks anyway

    Help.

I want to watch a blu ray tonight but my tv won't read the signal from the ps3.

The tv is fine, I run xbox, sky and dvd player through the hmdi fine but when you plug in the ps3 it stays black with no signal displayed. Tried different hmdi leads with no joy.

Any ideas? My second tv, small Samsung works with it but the main LG for movie watching won't accept it.

Were you putting it through scart before?
Have you tried holding down the power button until the second beep to reset the ps3s display settings?

Just wondering, is there any way of buying items from psn without having to put in a minimum of 5/10 ? Just seen something for a couple of quid but do I really need to pay 5 just to buy it ?

Afraid so, it's to counter the card fees and make it worth while to sell things for a few quid.

    Portable view - Never forget.
