So is nobody talking about the TUF finale? I was really happy with the outcome. I think that Uriah Hall has the same thing going on as Anderson Silva, every dude is so scared of what they might do it acts as a kind of ueber feint paralyzing the challenger. And they shine. It's when you have guys like Sonnen and Kevin who don't repect them too much and put them on the ropes and are themselves surprising that you get a real fight. So yeah, I was really happy with that result.

Someone is going to die if they keep doing that.

I enjoyed the TUF finale, turned off the Faber v Jorgenson fight though, I hate Faber.

Faber vs. Jorgensen was great. Really fast paced, competitive affair. It's all over when Faber takes your back, though.

Never thought I would say this but I want to see more women fighting, I thought Tate/Zingano stole the show.
  • Deleted user 17 April 2013 22:52:43
That was a great event. I love Faber so him winning was great and the womens fight was very good and shows that there's a bit more depth to the division than Rousey and Cyborg (if they ever let her fight what with the whole roids thing).

Funnily enough my other half, who really struggles to watch the UFC with me, was really engaged by the Tate/Zingano fight. She perked up especially when she heard that Zingano is a mother!

There's a lot to be said for the way the UFC are giving women an equal billing with the men -- it's a really positive thing, and a lot more progressive than people may initially realise. In which other sports does that happen? Moar plz!

I find it kind of terrifying watching the women go at it, knowing that they could beat the shite out or me and four guys like me if they'd a mind to.

    Ben-Hen is the boss.
Conroversy by some as to whether Gil Melendez won more rounds, but based on what I've just seen (just watched it) I would give Rd1 to Gil, 2-4 to Hen and possibly 5 as a draw.
  • Deleted user 21 April 2013 17:12:25
A razor close and highly competitive fight, there was no definite winner. Henderson propably edged for me, I think his leg kicks were the most effective offence in the fight but man it was so close.

Also, Henderson may be great fighter but he has an awful sense of occasion, the marriage proposal infront a booing partisan crowd wasn't particularly bright.

Well he probably planned to do it no matter what, so I don't think it mattered too much.

It was a close tough fight, but Hen IMO edged rounds 2,3 and 4 (in fact he was in a strong ground and pound position before the bell in 3 rang, which probably helped him edged it). I could only think of a few times when Melendez completely had him, yet Ben had him on a floor a few times due to takedowns and some nice kicks.

Close fight, but as Ben himself said afterwards, that division is so stacked with talent that title fights are always likely to go down to the wire. He's the guy with the belt and frankly if anyone wants it, they really need to win it decisively in my opinion. Not sure who that is at this moment in time though.

Cormier showed me enough to suggest that he'll give Jones a decent fight if he drops down to LHW. The body punches from the clinch were making me wince.

Also a little sad for Nate Diaz who seems to be dropping completely out of the picture like his brother - those boys need to adapt quick.

Yeah I agree, a very strange night though Im relieved the contrived Jones/Sonnen nonsense is over.

Also, I love Roy Nelson and his gimmick but how the hell are his opponents still getting caught by that overhand?

LMFAO at Joe Rogan trying to interview a clearly shocked Jon Jones.

Just goes to show how much adrenaline is pumping for a fighter to not notice he's broken his big toe.

Also WTF was up with Belcher? I was looking forward to a proper tear-up but he looked like a fighter making his octagon debut. Bisping barely had to break sweat.

Crap show, and lol at those who thought Chael "Interim champ/olympic wrestler" Sonnen would have a chance at Jones. Even funnier that Jones decided to fight Sonnen's game of getting on the inside, clinch and wrestling....and dominating him completely at his own game.
  • Deleted user 28 April 2013 20:09:40
    Sonnen is an odd one.

He isn't bad per se but he is pretty much one dimensional and he is only really in the top flight because of his domination of Silva in one match that he still ended up losing. And Silva murdered him in the rematch.

Putting him up against Jones was pretty much a foregone conclusion. I believe the Vegas odds for Jones losing were some of the worst ever for a UFC bout.

While Jons would have won anyways i think the ref jumped in too soon. Sonnen was protecting himelf. All in all i thought the refs had a bad night.

And give Big Country a title match already.

Indeed. I want to see that big hoss win the title through sheer power of BRH and being actually competent on the ground.

Dana hates him though because he looks like a slob and doesn't give a fuck. Bit like Mark Hunt.

Yeah refs stop fights when the person purely on the defensive via fetal position and face covered.

You can also imagine the ref saw the damage to his face too, which looked pretty mangled after only a few minutes.

Sonnen had absolutely no chance against Jones. It's ridiculous that they let him have a title shot at light heavy , even if Bones has pretty much cleared all the talent in that division.

Big Country! I loved the way he stood over Congo, fist raised, but decided to spare him any further damage.

Y'know what would have been a super-odd ending to the night? If Sonnen had escaped the first round. The referee would have noticed Jones' mangled foot, DQ'd Jones as unable to continue, and Chael would be the new LHW champ.
