Im sorry but its no use being selective about what software is worth downloading illegally and what’s OK.
If you stop out ALL illegal downloads then games will disappear.

Example; what’s the difference a dev team working on a game putting all there heart and soul into the project OR a dev team putting all there heart and soul into a office application?

    None.

I've pirated software, who hasn't? Whining about not being able to do it anymore is the fucking lame part.

Not heart and soul, but its still what puts bread on their table. I know piracy is bad, i might torrent somthing every now and then, but fundamentally and morally i know that its still stealing and still wrong, and the only justification i can give is that im a bad person. People thinking stealing is just is what annoys me. Im not going to think any less of someone who downloads stuff, only if they think they are right in doing it.

Ok, how about just considering the amount of someones life that goes into coding an office app (or game).

I can honestly say I've never pirated any material whatsoever.

Unfortunately, its not because I'm a paragon of virtue, it all just confuses me a bit, and I get embarrased and stop trying.

    Eh?

For what it's worth, I think it's interesting what the Pirate Bay guys are doing. They're definitely a step up from simple pirates (despite the name), as it seems to be an ideological thing for them (hey, that's why they're making a political party after all). Maybe they're one extreme end of the spectrum, but IMO the balance needs redressing a bit. The constant lengthening of copywrite etc by greedy corporations (and their tame politicians) is pretty disgusting too.

    Edit: more on wikipedia

While I am against piracy (ie Copyright infringement - which is not actually THEFT) I am even more against what has happened.

thepiratebay is NOT doing anything wrong legally. Morally maybe. But it's not breaking the law.

The 'criminals' in this case are the people who use this to get software that is protected under copyright, the police force/government who took the equipment without due cause, and the organisations behind this that insidiously apply presure to take a case that is baseless.

It's pretty straightforward. LetsGo is "smarter than your average bear", if you see what I mean.

... the servers went back online again yesterday, with the page appropriately enough called "The Police Bay".

The Swedes protested against the action against The Pirate Bay today, albeit just over a 1000 of them, and someone hacked into the Police's mainframe and shut ti down for a few hours.

Just saw it on Danish News. Appaerntly it's back up now but only to international users

A site this big, targeted so often with legal threats, large user base, probably recieves lots of donations. They'd have a backup plan, I know I would.
Besides, the site is up but it's not functional. So it's not really back just yet.
