I don't actually rate any of the Star Trek films that much. I have always thought that the very best episodes from the series's have always been far better than any of the films.

For instance The best of both worlds two parter kicks the crap out of first contact.

    Well, part one does.

    Even Riker was good!!

Haha, yeah it's pretty good, but I always remember thinking it wasn't as good as part one, although for the life I me I can't think what was wrong with it now...

Seems to me they are trying to follow the comic relief mixed with melodrama of the original rather than the poe faced TNG era. Personally I think this is the best route. Hopefully we'll see Kirk copping off with blue skinned ladies and punching people.

I really must revisit TNG as its getting hazy in my memory now.

Great episode that one though :) Patrick Stewart at his over acting best ;)

Johnathan is a good actor. He was seriously stifeld by his role as Riker. :/ We see some of his best acting in Frame of mind and Pegasus.

I just can not see Kirk working without the power of Shatner.

It's such an iconic roll I just don't think anyone will be able to pull it off.

Yup, totally agree, those 2 episodes in particular show his acting off really well. Second Chances is pretty good too.

Do you think they need to go with a big "name" for Kirk, like with Scotty and Nero (Pegg and Bana) or would you rather an unknown?

    Oh, we will.

Seriously though, I'd rate Tolian Soran over Khan. At least he had a third dimension (as opposed to being an obsessive super soldier who is conned by Kirk's remote control, then chases the Enterprise round a rock for an hour and winds up in a dust cloud throwing away a certain victory. Fucknut.) and an agenda that wasn't out of a comic book.

And Temora Sulu's face when she realises Kirk is kaput is a moment a brilliance.

Shaka, when the walls fell and all that...

LB, you really are a massive geek.

I don't really have anything against him just as a character he always came off as a bit generic. He certainly did have some great episodes :)

The only TNG character I really had a problem with shall remained unnamed (it began with W ;) )

One thing on the casting of Pegg is I bet he is wondering around in a daze at the moment after getting such a part given how much of an uber geek he is.

I thought Rikers finest hour was in 'Shades of Grey'.

And the finale of Enterprise. I LOVED his cameo in that.
