What was your strategy Dakeyras? I (despite considering myself reasonably competent when it comes to JRPGs) failed that battle a couple of times before Christmas and since getting LA Noire havenít been back to try again. It felt like I was badly equipped rather than under leveled in any way.

Equipment makes a huge difference. Buy some new chips and stock up on food, and you'll probably beat it easily.

The trick to that battle is targeting akhos. The other enemy will use taunt to pull you off him temporarily,† as soon as it wears off you want to retarget akhos and his left on the dpad to ensure your team are too.

Yeah I focused on Akhos as he was a lower level.

I did lose the first attempt due to having a brand new blade to replace the absent blade - only for the absent blade to return instead of my more experienced blade... I was also struggling with fighting Malos.

You only need to get Akhos down to half his life for it to move on.

I actually enjoyed this as I was struggling to maintain full life and build up the 3 bars for the group combo attack. It then made the following cutscene much more believable!!!

As for equipment i have desserts and instruments in pouches to build up my arts quicker. I'm really far from convinced my accessories are the best options. I have one that increases buff time for special combos when changing blades, increasing strength, ether and reducing opposite elemental damage to my blades is how I am currently loaded out.

My main blades all have lvl 2 or 3 arts as well.

Oh and i rested for the first time in many hours before the fight and levelled up from 24 to 28 in doing so.

I had the same sort of issue on chapter 6 (i think) boss battle, some of them are really really tough. I did a side mission called a pheonex tale yesterday and the final boss of that mission must have killed me about 8-10 times even though i was 20 levels higher than him (because he kept getting reinforcements at the worst time and fuck stench (and i was using my abilities poorly). The worst though was Tender hearted beast. That final boss battle was so hard, i ended up sticking on Kora and kiting him with occasional hits as she has a heal per second ability.

oh, few little bits i love about this game

    1) poppi and tora dancing whilst on an elevator
    2) Nia's 'ready or gormotti' line when doing a chain attack
    3) Nia's dancing as her blade does a level 3 attack :D
    4) NIa

It's probably just me, but it really sounds like Nia is shouting "f*cking turd!" during the battles. :)

    @Toaster05
    I liked that one.
The bun bun outfit episode with Tora was also funny

Beat the final boss earlier, ended up with a 115hr playtime mainly because I was having fun wandering around exploring and doing side quests.

I have four rare blades left to find. I'm intrigued by the NG+ mode coming soon so I'll keep hold of my card for a while in case I want to replay.

    Had an absolute blast. :)

Is the playtime actually accurate? Mine said id played 20hours but I really donít think so.

Enjoying it a lot, altho the button presses are really unresponsive imo.

The game gives me 200+ hrs played, but it's a known glitch/bug. I go by the Switch activity log even though it's only to the nearest five hours.

I want the super detailed 3DS activity log to read through and analyse!

I also thought the button presses were unresponsive at first. Then I got better at the game. ;)

I think that may have been fixed with that patch as I started after it and my in game time matches up with the activity log.

Haha that did occur to me. Especially when salvaging - Iím like 100% certain Iím hitting the button before it goes to the end of the circles but it doesnít take. But itís more obvious when Iím just using a collection point and I always have to press the button twice, or when I want to change targets and I have to do the same

Might be a latency/refresh rate thing. I had noticeable delay (only a split second, but that matters when you're trying to time button presses) when I was playing docked, and that continued until I found the "gaming" setting on my TV.

If you're playing in handheld mode, though, it's all your fault. :)

Still on chapter 8... been running around doing other stuff for the last ten hours or so but have just lost access to indol so thatís a bit sucky .

I have had to admit to having to google some stuff as some of the side quests are really vague (I am loooking at you riddle on the wall :( and some stuff you just straight up canít do when you receive the quest.

@Graxlar_v3 losing the access isnít too bad, iíve not noticed any effect on it really as it was pretty quiet anyway.

Riddle on the wall though... i was sure i knew where the first bit was so rushed there without even setting the quest as active. All i done was kill a level 61 unique enemy in uraya then resorted to google. That cave entrance is tiny :@

Yeah, i think i got all of the quests out of it, so hopefully not missed anything but i dunno, i didn't 5* it :(.

I have to say, i love love love that you dont need to grind out levels in this... i have spent alot of the game running through mobs (as i kept getting swarmed by reinforcements when i tried fighting outside the story and dying) in the open world but have managed to keep pace with the story (i think - lvl 64 at chapter 8 and i just defeated a lvl 64 enemy).

Also, last night i did a chain attack thingy and got my damage output to 800k so that was exciting :D

Yes, it's easily the least grindy jrpg I've played. Battles are fun, but I ended up just fighting the unique monsters and bosses. The rest I ran by unless they were needed for the affinity chart.

Yeah, definitely enjoying the lack of unnecessary grinding. Not sure if it's an indication of being under leveled but my 5th party member is level 49 and the rest are 42-44. Not that I've had any major problems, mind.

Does anyone else miss the collectopedia feature from past games? I know it's senseless grind but at least it made me explore the world, something I feel is missing from this. I literally just make a b-line through zones to get to the next objective.

I've enjoyed exploring in this one more the other 2. Probably because the combat is more fun, just enjoying the game more in general.

I am glad beyond measure they have the video viewer on the front screen. I have watched most of the cut scenes on handheld but really want to see them on a larger screen.
