    Itís far from being crappy f2p match 3 shite. I understand the comparison, but doesnít really apply imo.

    EG reviewed it and below is Rock Paper Shotguns take. Been improved a bit since that review, thereís a more refined unlocking mechanism been added to the Switch version (and probably the PC version).

    @yegon

    I'm in on it as well. I only managed to survive half a dozen battles in my first game. It's certainly a much heavier and strategic spin on the traditionally light match 3 genre. Recommended.

    It's basically a strategy game with match 3 elements.

    You can also play Zelda-like games and first-person shooters like Halo for free on mobile, so that alone doesn't say much. :)

    I might grab that. I like match 3 with other bits.

    Graceful Explosion Machine, Fast RMX, Retro City Rampage, Mario + Rabbids, Mario Odyssey. That's probably what I'm interested in from now 'til the end of the year. Enough to pick up a Neon from Amazon this week? Hrmmmm.

    And the system seller that is Just Dance 2017, I assume.

    What was the last eShop sale like? Decent reductions?

    On Switch they're rarely great, but for digital only stuff there's not much alternative if you like paying less. For stuff that's also physical, you'll generally save money going that way.

    Yes. 1000 times yes. The best thing about the Switch is how it fits into your life and you can play anywhere. You find you have more time to game.

    For me the standouts have been Zelda, MK8 and Splatoon. I'm guessing you're a Wii U owner as you don't mention those, but it's definitely worth it.

    The new battle mode on MK8 is well worth considering and Splatoon 2 is fantastic. And I say that as a Wii U owner who played them loads.

    I never got enough mileage out of either on WiiU to warrant a double-dip, sadly, much as I liked them both. I might jump onto Splatoon 2 when I can get it for a song, as I did enjoy the campaign in the original.

    I recommend it, they did a great job porting it from the PC version and thereís a few extra elements to it that werenít in the PC version when I played it (probably patched into PC version since).

    Turn based match 3, but donít let that put you off, thereís ample strategy to it, and the setting is well imagined.

    Ooo, I hadn't heard of this. I am going through match 3 withdrawals after quitting Marvel Puzzle Quest after 950 days, so this sounds right up my street.

    There are no themed sales yet, but a handful of games have knocked 30% off the asking price. It's pretty similar to the Wii U's eShop sales, so not too frequent or too amazing. However, that weirdly makes more likely to buy something as I guess i'm never expecting it to go on sale.

    I was reading about Ironcast this morning and it sounded interesting, being a turn based game, but I was hoping for a bit more to the gameplay than a match 3 game. £13 too, which I know isn't much for a Switch game, but not sure I'd pay £13 for it if it was an Android game, which it easily could be.

    Sonic Mania is out tomorrow too :)

    Yeah if the whole point of the Switch is a home console that you can take on the go, i'm not really interested in it for mobile games that i can plug into my telly... there's a reason that mirroring games to the Apple TV never took off!

    I also think things like match 3 are a lazy mechanic in general.

    Strictly speaking, Ironcast isn't really a match 3 game as you have to link together as many gems as you can. Its no Bejewelled. I'd call it primarily a strategy game with match 3 elements.

    I got so many hours out of the Puzzle Quests compared to a lot of AAA games, I'll happily pay £13 for this. I don't know if a game like this exists on android without IAPs either.

    @THFourteen

    😀

    Saying Ironcast is a match 3 game is like saying Pokťmon is just a rock paper scissors game. Which, come to think of of it, it is, so, erm...

    Well, as well as Sonic Mania I picked up Ironcast and Cave Story. I think I now have more games for the Switch than any other console at this stage in its life.

    I think Sonic Mania was the 100th release on the eShop. Not too shabby for the first 6 months. The quality has, for the most part, been very high.

    I loved Puzzle and Dragons, but I hit a brick wall some time after the 'end' and couldn't progress any further. I think I was almost at the end after the end too.
