    @ChiefGB
Considering it was set a whole year later it did make sense that the child actors had aged! Although it's now very notiecable that the kid playing Will is younger than the others.

And it looks like series 3 will be set another year later, seeing as Hopper and the doctor agreed they should wait a year before letting 'Jane' out into the world. I'm guessing series 3 will open with her first days joining the others at school, with the sister character turning up to try and tempt her away once she inevitably has trouble fitting in.

The final episode made me wish that there could have been a spin-off series with these characters where there's no supernatural menace - it would be more fun just to see them going about their everyday lives, playing D&D and just 'being kids'. Kind of like Stand By Me - but with fewer bodies and less 'Kiefer-on-roids'.

Episode 7 was really bad. Thought it was good otherwise, not as good as the first but great fun.

Watched the punk gang one last night. Definitely not a strong a season as 1, but was kinda expecting that tbh. Hopper is still my favourite surly bastard.

Hopper's ace. I like his relationship with 11.

Yeah that was one of my favourite parts of the series so far.

It was inevitable that some of the initial magic of the first series would fade as the second starts to go big and expand on where we left off last time but I think they've generally got the balance right even if the pacing isn't quite there. And the punks are shit and feel tonally all wrong to me.

Yeah, I went into this series just hoping some of the magic would still be there. And it is. Which is great. There's some fluff and white noise (punks etc) along for the ride, but I just sift that out.

In fact, for me, it's -

    The music
    Hopper
    The gang
    Bikes
    Weird shit.
    Winona (please marry me)
    Tape cassettes being used
    80's

The punks were shit, but they sort of make sense from a referencing 1980s pop culture angle.

They reminded of the depictions of punks seen in Terminator, RoboCop, Mad Max etc.

I'm surprised at how much I like Steve. His pairing off with Dustin was great.

yeah they were very much that kind of movie punk. They played that role perfectly really, I'm just not sure I agree with their place doing it in this show.

I remember when reviews for S1 came out, people accused Winona of wildly overacting. Now everyone loves her. What changed?

I think she falls somewhere in between.

There's definite spin-off potential there. King Steve and Duke Dustin, breaking hearts and monster faces.

One episode left to go and the mullet on Max's brother is the worst special or make-up effect in either series

Not that I'm biased or anything (I am) but I thought/think she's superb in both

100% down with the Steve & Dustin show

Stranger Things 3 should be no monsters just wonderful coming of age nostalgia

    Agree on Steve/Dustin too.

On Winona, she can be grating, especially in S1, but then I think people love her now because she actually takes her son seriously and especially in S2 comes across as one of the more pragmatic characters who actually gets shit done.

Stayed up late last night to watch the last episode of this! Really enjoyed it very much. Bring on Season 3! I don't think it was quite up there with the first season but not by much. I would have preferred they guys were kept together and episode 8 felt out of place and pointless. After from a few niggles I loved it.

One thing I appreciated in a way was that Billy was just a shit with a bigger shit for a dad.

The way they held back on his and Max's relationship so many other shows would have had a big reveal or a link to the wider narrative but ST2 kept things grounded. For all the monster stuff real life is still happening and real life can suck.

@simpleexplodingmaybe I think his character suffered for it though,
I guess you don't want a carbon copy of Steve, and the appearance of his dad does add a little sympathy, but he ended up a little one dimensional and what went down at Will's house with him and Steve was a bit unearned I felt,
    and disappointing.

Although I could not stop laughing when he met Mike's mum! She deserves better than that useless twit she's married to. :)

My wife's warned me never to repeat anything he's said to our kids.

I finished watching the second season last night. It was ok. Before I started watching season 2 I expected it to be like Buffy the Vampire Slayer with a new 'big bad' for the season, but it was the same thing all over again. Will is in perl again, his mother hangs stuff up on the walls again, the same monster (in dog form this time, but it's the same), there was a new Steve, Maxs' brother, who followed the same kind of arc as he did in season 1, the upside down was back, etc. There wasn't enough of the kids just being kids.

I don't think I'll ever go back and rewatch season 2.

I don't know if anyone has read the invisibles, but the punk hideout was covered in graffiti references to it.

But, yeah, it was kind of weak but necessary. Eleven has to be separated from the gang now for the story to happen, it expanded the universe slightly and gave her a training montage. She's in a totally different orbit to the rest of the kids which I assume will provide the tension next season.

She's the most powerful person on the planet and Mike and the guys are nerds.
