Hello, my PS4 Fan gets loud when I play Killzone all the time in the campagin mode.
    Is that normal?
Isn't the disc spin, because the game is fully installed.

I have my PS4 in a open area with alot of space around it.

In other games my PS4 is silent, like Assassins Creed, FIFA, Warframe etc..

    Anyone?

    Tell them to keep quiet.

Although it's nice to have a fan.

I have this issue though I think it varies from console to console. My PS4 is certainly louder than my PS3 and for some reason something keeps audibly switching off in the ps4 every so often if you get my meaning? It sounds like something to do with the power supply or disk drive turning off...

My PC does this on the more graphically demanding games.

I noticed that Killzone makes the fan run a bit louder than other games (although it's still an effort to hear it).

I imagine it's because Killzone looks a whole lot better than the other games, so the console is doing more work to run it, therefore it needs more cooling.

I get this in Assassin's Creed occasionally. Hardly game-ruining, but not something I expected.

With that and the dodgy left stick, bit disappointed in Sony.

So what are the chances of my PS4 lasting the whole "generation"? I'm gonna baby the thing of course but I just don't see me not having to buy a replacement somewhere down the line, and I hate that that's just the way it is.

This loud distracting sound is perfectly acceptable because it's not an xbox.

Don't own a PS4 but my PS3 had the very same problem as soon as I booted up Last Of Us, soon after , you know what, YLOD.

Guess the PS4 do have her own version of YLOD, after all :p

Oh and Syrette, I thought I heard everyone praise DualShock 4 ? especially the sticks?

I am a bit worried the more strenuous games get the more likely the thing will just fail as The Last of Us killed my PS3 as well. I know it doesn't help to think like that...

Really disappointing how Sony have opted to make another noisy console to be squeezed into a smaller case :-(

It's not a noisy console most of the time, not sure exactly what Killzone is doing in comparison to everything else but it's the only one that gets the fan going to such an extent.

My PS4 is under my gaming desk and I sit less than a metre away from it and it's noticeable but not requiring the use of ear defenders or anything.

    This space left intentionally blank.

I sit mine next to the TV, it's about 2.5 meters away from me and, aside from the disc spinning up/down at the XMB I can't hear a damn thing when using it. Stop being so emo AB.

Play Killzone about 30/50 minutes and you're going to hear the loud noise of the PS4 :)

That would suggest it's miles quieter than the PS3, is that really true ?

Same for me so far. Its in a unit under the telly 1.5m away. All I really hear is the disc winding up and down. The fan is really pretty quiet you'd be pushed to notice it.

I didn't play KZ much since it bored the tits off me, but I did give the mpa fair few goes and a bit of the campaign. I don't recall it being that noisy.

I don't know, is it? You're asserting the "miles quieter" bit, not me.
I'm speaking from personal experience of a couple of weeks of ownership and four games. And really, that's all any of us have to go on at the moment.

It's different for others though, for whatever reasons. Mine is certainly not whisper quiet, for a start.

Well my PS3 is 2.5-3m away and the fan makes plenty of noise so if you can't hear any Ps4 fan from closer it must be a lot quieter, not what the lab reports reported.

Anyway, noise perception is subjective, people constantly use whisper quiet and silent when anything is less than deafening, I don't have my quadruple yet but I wish they had taken the onesie approach with a bigger, quieter fan.

Well, because your fan is A. a bit further away than mine and B. I can't hear ANY PS4 fan, even the ones on PS4's I don't own, and C. you mentioned laboratories, and D. when machines are one notch down from deafening, people are CONSTANTLY calling them "whisper quiet", you win big time my friend.
Or, alternatively, my fan doesn't bother me despite a fair amount of use and... that's just it.

    Edited for iphone keyboard fuckwittery.

Mine is only noisy during Killzone too, and I'm almost beside it.

My desk is also thin and wooden so any vibrations are hyper amplified, but once I put it up on a book (woohoo 80 quid college books being useful) it was near silent, except for Killzone obviously.

The gravel in this is SOOO PRITTEH

It's revs up on kz more so than other games.

Putting console horizontal makes the fan rev up less often, in my experience.
