I'm not sure if you've realised and are trying to pass it on, or were genuinely taken in yourself, but assuming you're serious, please consider nickthegun's sage advice.

It is a bit sad that, were it true, it'd be interesting enough to overshadow all the other silly stuff both sides seem to be focusing on. Would make border crossing a bit of an adventure, at least :)

It made me ponder a proper solution, you can do a non-stop version with a single bridge.

Salmond attacks 'negative and depressing' No campaign

Fair enough. However he also said a couple of interesting things. Firstly

"They are already out of touch with the people and now, I fear, they're losing touch with reality."
Hold onto that quote, because that article also says

The Scottish government argues Scotland is the 14th richest country among the world's most developed nations,
This is an incredible achievement, because by most common measures, this means Scotland is considerably richer than the UK as it currently is! It's an economic Tardis! Salmond is a genius!

I'm guessing there's a mountain of Scottish gold which the English demons of Westminster are hiding somewhere.

    I suspect it's total bollocks.

The richest people in the UK live in Glasgow or Edinburgh in preference to London?

I really don't think the wealth of a country overall is determined by the richest people, hand the wealth in London is foreign anyway.
He'll be using convenient figures with oil income etc. but it's not necessarily nonsensical, Here is an explanation

He has based it on GDP per person. http://www.scotland.gov.uk/Resource/0044/00446013.pdf

A lot has been made of oil and natural gas, but what would England do without shortbread, drunks and those flat caps with the fake ginger hair trim if Scotland gained independence?

As I said, total bollocks. No doubt they've based it on Scotland getting most (if not all) of the oil, of oil revenues being greater than any trend and of Scotland having little or no debt.

What next, I wonder. Perhaps Scots are far more likely to win the Euromillions if independence is achieved, based on figures produced by the Scottish Government. Scots will live longer. etc.

Not arguing either way but a lot of the argument for and against independence has been heavily weighted on one or more resource. But I'm curious as to what the rest of the UK depend on? Apart from the crazy financial market in London, what else do we as a nation actually produce? Because it's not as if Scotland has no other industry but oil (and shortbread of course lololol).

There is a place near Aberdeen that is the recreational drug capital of Europe. Fraserburgh? Essentially lots of rich people and nothing to do.

How can Scotland be the 14th richest when Westminster hasn't worked out Scotland's share of the national debt?

That's what's most irritating about it - presenting speculation as hard fact and then using it as a basis for independence.

I think 'services' count for a large proportion of UK GDP (without looking it up).

Yeah, services, something else Scotland does.

    Mixed feelings.
He's a greasy, arrogant and stubborn lard arse but a clever fucker.
I do agree with a lot of his policies but can't say I really trust him (not that there's a politician I trust much more though).

Millions of cans of it are sold in Russia so I'm sure we'll let the sassenachs have some.
