Anybody having issues with the disc drive? Seems to be a few videos circulating at the moment such as this one.

Changed the thread title to be a bit more inclusive for any other issues.

This just adds to the excitement of turning it on for the first time. Have I got a good one? Should I be filming this?

How many millions are being shipped today? There will always be faulty ones. Doesn't make it the next RROD.
  • Deleted user 22 November 2013 10:37:08
One dead Xbox is a tragedy, a million is a RROD?

Mine arrived, disc tray was fine but someone had welded a plate over the ethernet port.

    Ahem

Just like PS4, then, yeah? They're broken too, and as that link shows, so is everything else. Standard electronics failure rate, for the TLDR crowd, is 15% for the first 4 years of their lifespan. Laptops average 22%. Plus, a disc drive's pretty easy to sort out, and they're all in warranty, it's a non-issue just like it was with PS4.

    FFS.

It would be gutting, though, if you were the kind of excitable numbskull who buys hardware at launch.

How long to wait though? When do they typically enter the "2nd batch" of production? Genuine question.

PS4 is only being released in SA just before Christmas and we aren't a launch country for Xbox One.

There are "very low failure rates"...

    It could be worse.

You could get an Xbone & a copy of Ryse.

    Or a PS4 & a copy of Knack.
