The div that contains the advert at the top of the page doesn't have a default height set and gets its dimensions from the content. Since the advert loads after the rest of the page this results in the page jumping downwards right at the moment I've decided what I want to tap.

Please fix it. It's really annoying.

Hey! You call this slop? Real slop has got chunks of things in it! This is more like gruel! And this Château le Blanc '68 is supposed to be served slightly chilled! This is room temperature! What do you think we are? Animals?

I'm sure we've had a similar issue before here, though it was more severe and caused crashes for some people too. At least it seems stable just now.

It is still a bit annoying though. It's the delay that's the annoying bit, as when it's slower it can take a good couple of seconds to load the ad, so you load the forum, click the thread you want, wait a sec, the ad loads, and the click counts as whatever takes up the screen space you tapped a second ago.

I'd kick the living daylights out of the producers of Tipping Point - Ghandi

    It is indeed annoying.

Not as nice as I used to be

I was being terribly annoyed by it myself just earlier. I'm constantly ending up in user's profiles because the page loads, I go to tap "last page" on a thread I want to read and jus tthen, the ad loads, makes the page jump and I hit the username of the last poster from a different thread.

    It's annoying indeed.

Yeah actually I keep meaning to mention this as well. It's frustrating as hell on the ipad.

Why even put ads on a mobile site?
It eats into my data plan and when I have a bad connection it takes for ever to load.

Wasn't the option for viewing 'Mobile/Portable/HD' before? Now it's just
mobile or HD. Is that why the font is half it's normal size and Call Of Duty is shouting at me?

So many times I've clicked on the wrong thread because of that fucking ad delay, bloody annoying.

    This space left intentionally blank.

    Here here

I was starting to suspect it was intentional the number of times I've clicked on adverts as a result

Yeah, I've noticed this as well. Usually just wait it out but sometimes jump the gun and end up in another thread or user profile.

If you don't fix it we click on twice the number of threads before we get where we want. More ad views.

    CONSPIRACY.

Glad I'm not alone. It's worse on slow connections, there can literally be 30 seconds of still before the page decides "nope, everything belongs 2cm down... NOW".

Just set the div style to height: 30px or whatever. Any ad that's much bigger than that can f*ck off anyway.

The real pros press stop once the page has loaded. You can then press whichever thread you like without ending up on the wrong one.

Although saying that, I once ended up clicking on the Dark Souls thread 3 times before finally clicking the correct one. Bloody adverts...

Yeah I too suffer from this problem, I solely visit this website on my phone so I understand the need for adverts, just do it properly.

Please help me mods? Stop ignoring me?

I assumed this problem was just my iPad being crap but I totally suffer from it as well. Has anyone set up a support group with weekly meetings yet?

    Hello!

You guys are completely correct -- the way the ad loads on mobile is annoying and wrong.

I've made some changes so that the container the advert lives in is now set to a fixed height. The upshot of that is that the layout won't shift after the advert loads, so touches won't suffer from the annoying offsetting bug. The downside is that in the (rare) case of us not having an advert to show there will be an empty space.

I hope that helps! Please shout if you spot any other oddness related to the ads on the mobile site.
