I refuse to get football manager again, I got it on the PSP years ago and lost entire weeks to it. For me having a portable device that can play football manager is a recipe for total life destruction.
Back in 2006 I'd spent a lads weekend in Dublin where we spent a lot of time in bars watching the Euro finals.

On a football high I picked up Football Manager for my PSP to play in the airport because my flight home was hours after the rest of the lads. Almost missed my bloody plane - they barely let me board it after I had to charge from one end of the airport to the other, barging my way through flocks of hen parties!

I lost the next month to it, but kind of burned myself out and I've not gone back to one since. Danger, I say!

@infoxicated Yeah I've not played any football manager since, people who said the psp got no games obviously never played football manager on it, you literally didn't need any other games on it.

Has anyone with better Google skillz been able to find even a hint suggesting when this could possibly be released?

I don't trust retailers placeholder dates really.

Even on the official forum this is all I could find:

Surely the screen is too small for this to actually work?

I always found it worked fine on PSP.

I enjoyed the Android version so they can make it work on a small screen - optimised for Vita I'm hoping for something better though, which all indications are that it seems to be.

With button control for things the touchscreen is fiddly for it should control very well IMO.

Yeah but the ios / PSP version was very basic

this is a full fledged version on a 5" screen

The screens I saw of this around the time of Gamescomm suggested that it was just the Classic version of FM14, with vertical scrolling to make up the whole screen (I remember the formation/tactics page looking like that). I don't suppose that's terribly optimised, but the touchscreen would at least make that workable.

I have my copy of FM14 ready to download on the PC (free for being an assitant researcher), but in all honesty I'd rather wait to play it on the handheld.

yeah its classic which i played last year, but even so, there is much more information than on the ios/psp version.

For example, players have the full amount of stats, not just the 20 that they had on the ios version. That will never fit on a 5" screen.

Not sure i like the sound of scrolling

Make this for the ipad please ;-)

They said only Vita will be powerful enough for this version. What are the tactics & formation controls like on Classic? Are they more FM or FM mobile?

    "Right-click on a player to ..."

How do I right-click on a Vita please?

I assume you left drag the blue part of the rectangle above the players name and right click the black part, I assume they'll make the wording less unwieldy before release.

It also looks like the right shoulder button brings down/hides the top menu bar over the top of whatever screen you're looking at, which will help fit more info onto the smaller screen.

It's really the same as the full PC version in a lot of ways, they have just cut out a lot of the useless crap like team talks, media interaction etc. I havent played full fat version for a long time, but the classic tactics screens are much more like that than the mobile version

I am tempted to play as Northampton and see if I can do a better job than Aidy is doing in real life. I am worried about how addicted to this game I'm going to become!

They had better have Sixfields' expansion on there as approved & definitely going ahead - I want the hotel income even more than David Cardoza. :p

    Soon

Still no confirmed release date, can see this game absolutely destroying my University exams if I actually buy it when it does come out, might be better off if I wait for 2015.. :-(

An SI guy posted on their forum on 3rd March saying the game is still in development and there's no news on release dates. Perhaps we will get something at this month's trade show?

How can it be in development and not have a release date?

They surely have a development roadmap in place which gives an apporx date for completion ...like every other game which goes in development.

Sorry but I'm calling bullshit on the thing being in development/

Might have to make do with a Kindle fire version, assuming you can get one.

    @THFourteen

Me, at least I have kept and I'm thinking of keeping it for the game or maybe ps4...not too sure now.

Maybe revealing the release date is part of their PR strategy - if they reveal it at a Sony event it will gain maximum press coverage.

Loads of games don't have release dates.

This, and remote play, factored into my purchase of a Vita.

Disappointed that the game's not out by now but then I've found other quality games on the Vita to tide me over anyway.

I am really dissapointed with SI on this one, should of been out by now. They could at least give us a solid release date

    Or some news.

Once it hit December they should have abandoned the 3D match engine and went 2D only for this year's release then worked on 3D for FMC15.
