I was at my brothers yesterday, and while looking through a cupboard we found our old Donkey Kong Coleco game (http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http://www.handheldmuseum.com/Coleco/Coleco-DonkeyKong.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.handheldmuseum.com/Coleco/DK.htm&h=480&w=350&sz=55&tbnid=BjLUcUGb7N9-BM:&tbnh=90&tbnw=66&zoom=1&usg=__rf9_Fumo4ieb3FisU3jYjh80MYs=&docid=VtdHoc9qF0bIWM&sa=X&ei=KWrRUcqBIaPy0gX8hYHIAg&ved=0CDkQ9QEwAQ&dur=1102 )

Purchased in 1982, lived through my brother, plus myself, as a kid, been transported across 3 continents in around 20 house moves, and amazingly with some new batteries it ran perfectly. Screen flickers slightly occasionally, but still great fun. Found a couple of game and watches as well, Fire Attack and the dual screen Donkey Kong, unfortunately we couldn't find batteries to test those though.

Compared to my 360 which lasted 9 months before a breakdown I am rather imppressed. Plus the graphics are still better than the Wii U and it has more games.

I have an Intellivision that kinda works. The controller is virtually unusable but the unit itself still loads.

Got a few Game & Watch, a Master System and a NES.

I went through a spell of buying old consoles at car boot sales and ebaying them. I would say 95% of them worked fine.

The only ones that ever seemed faulty were the NES. And that was always the same problem and easily fixed.

First I wanted to say SNES, but I think I still have my Master System 1 buried somewhere.

With 3D shutter glasses and 3D games. Too bad the glasses were broken right from the start.

Mega Drive. Still play all the sonics, castle of illusion, the lion king, rollo, desert strike, asterix, golden axe, etc. from time to time. Would love a second pad actually as one of ours broke, if anyone knows where I'd get one?

GameCube. Sold the rest but the Cube was worthless by the time I'd done with it (which was well before the Wii launched). I've got that and my 360 in the attic.

I do have a GBAsp that I still (rarely) use.

Console-wise, my oldest is only probably my Jaguar (1993), though I've also got an old Gamegear (1991), though the audio circuitry on that needs repairing at the moment, so I couldn't really claim it's fully working.

Computer-wise, I've an Atari 800XL (1983). If it was an original 800 that would have been 1979, but the XL was a redesign that came out a few years after with a smaller case and built-in BASIC to compete with the likes of the C64 and Speccy. My current BBC micro is a Master 128 which dates that as post-86, wheras if I still had access to the BBC-B that would date it at 1981. All working, though a fair few of the cheaper floppies (mostly commercial games) have become unreadable over time.

Cubby didn't know how to turn off sigs!

I've got an N64 sitting proudly underneath my TV. Technically it belongs to my flatmate though... my N64 is probably in storage somewhere.

That's my oldest as well, inherited from my dad.

I'll never get my Orc looking the same again.

Gameboy from 1989. Although it has gone a disturbing shade of piss-yellow.

I have a NES that was still working but it's been in my cousins house for a few years which probably means it's dead.

I have a still working N64 in my apartment so I suppose I'd have to say that's the oldest.

Not sure if it counts, but my brother still has one of these, which I'm fairly sure has been in the family since before I was born - and it still works.

    Wow, what year was that?

Not that it's a console, but my ZX Spectrum +3 was still in working order when I dug it out of my parent's loft a few years ago. We have a NES floating around the apartment somewhere, too.

I have a VCS too. Not my original. That got lost in a move, so I bought another.

    FCUTA!
