Hes been around for ages (since the NES days?) and has so many games across all formats he must be really popular with some people?

And on ebay some of the rare games go for quite a bit.

Yet at the same time no-one ever asks or seems interested when the next Mega Man game is coming out.

What is going on here? Is it just not a UK thing?

Never played any games with Mega Man in them, and I own SNES, N64, Cube, Wii, GBA and DS...

Actually quite a few people are interested in a new mega man game, but capcom appear to have no interest in releasing one.

Because its a relatively cult game, they don't always sell in huge numbers, hence the high resale value of the titles.

Megaman 10 on 360 is probably the best starting point.

Yewtree got to him, he'd been getting a bit too friendly with the Mega Boys.

@Blerk the love of dizzy is (based on my experience) the most overrated blind nostalgia I have ever come across.

Treasure Island dizzy was horrible to control, cheap and impossible to complete without cheating. Apart from a memorable character everything about dizzy was best left in the 1980's

The mega man games are varied in quality, but the best ones are excellent.

I wasn't keen on Dizzy 1 and Treasure Island, but I remember liking Magic Land Dizzy and Prince Of The Yolk Folk.

The spin off games like Bubble Dizzy, Dizzy Down The Rapids and Dizzy Panic can eff off though.

Popular opinion suggests Mega Man 2, 3 and 9 are the best in the original series.

Edit - I've only just recently got around to playing these games, thanks to the 3DS Virtual Console. I've only played the first Gameboy game and NES game, but they're quite good. I can see why nobody here cared about them at the time though.

Megaman 2 is actually a good place to start. You get get it on the iPhone for 69p and its had a slight rejig so it isnt so crushingly unfair. Its actually a very good port.

For anyone who doesnt know, you start a megaman game with a simple pew pew laser and a choice of more or less all the levels, levels that are guarded by a boss robot.

Its then trial and error to find a boss that you can kill with your shitty little pop-gun. Then when you kill that boss, you take on his powers and then you have to work out which boss those powers kill and so on and so forth.

Its like a massive game of rockman, scissors, paper.

Mega Man 2 is awesome. Play it with the NES Advantage though (remember when turbo was useful?).

21 consoles, 5 handhelds, 2 PCs, 1 Mac and about 700 games from the past 30 years. Every major manufacturer and developer represented. Still a fanboy for disagreeing with you.
